https://theathletic.com/984135/2019/05/ ... alifornia/ Apparently Giolito had to go to his high school coach in order to get fixed this offseason as the Sox long tenured pitching coach is a joke. It would be nice if the Sox had a pitching coach who could fix one of their key acquisitions in the rebuild. I guess we should hope Lopez has a good high school coach he can fall back on as that's the only way he's going to have his problems fixed. |

Agree. Didn't Keyser tell us, Fullmer went outside of the organization? No that it has worked for him. |

It sounded like Giolito didn't have the approval of the organization and they would've tried to shoot it down had he told them what he was doing. Good for him on doing what he needed to do. |

We seems to be slowly becoming the Baltimore Orioles but willing to spend internationally. |

As a pitching coach myself who has worked with some guys who made the major league roster and elsewhere, I don't see anything wrong with a pitcher going to talk to someone they worked with for four or more years when young. Pitching is really an art form and there isn't one way to do it. Having another pair of eyes look at what your doing sometimes can work, especially a pair of eyes that knows what you did successfully in the past. Personally, I think that is a great story. As for Cooper being a bad pitching coach, I don't know. The Sox have developed a fair share of good major league pitchers and had some busts. I watched the Stros broadcast and they were marveling at the change in Giolitto from previous seasons and they talked about his shorter delivery and the increased speed of his fastball a lot. Don't know if you watched that broadcast. |
