It appears the site has been down for days due to a hacking but really it had been a ghost town for over a year.

It was a great site at the beginning. It was one of my first regular forum boards and I think it even introduced me to this place. I think it had a run of over 20 years. Despite the differences I may have had with it over the last 5 or so years I still give it credit for being a great location for sox talk. I'm not like a lot of others who were banned for life. I received a week time out and came back but just started losing interest probably because of the moderation.

It was great to have that place available to me and my fellow sox fans when they won the world series.

Anyway, pour a little out. I can't say I'll miss it as it moved from an everyday read to almost absent from my awareness. I'll remember it for what it was.

Kind of what happens, when you ban people left and right.

It’s up and running. It still sucks but it’s operating.

The guys that run it don't even live in Chicago and never go to any games. Fuck that place.

I was banned from it pretty immediately, back in 2003 or 2004 maybe. I was still in high school.

Other than a link posted here I may have clicked, I don't think I ever went to that site.

It seemed like it became a money making scheme at some point: buy a shirt, pay to post in a special section, load the place up with ad links. If that's not enough to drive away users then the admins were there to ban you for things as mundane as bumping old threads.

The site looks like a high school project from someone learning HTML in 2003, but the person who designed it actually links it back to her portfolio. For her sake I hope it's gone soon.

It’s amazing that WSI is universally despised (with good reason). Not just people here but also on SoxTalk everyone hates WSI.

Agreed with everything you said Dolphin. It had it's time...but holy shit did the guys that run it turn into thin skinned psychos.
