That's weird. Especially with the Yanks coming back later in the year. You would think Jerry would want to schedule it when they come back to get a better gate. People won't have time to schedule for tomorows day game. It's the Yankees. You could sell it out later in the year.

yeah, but it works tomorrow b/c the thursday game on june 7th is a night game. so, all they have to do is reschedule their charter to leave later instead of screwing up their schedule down the road.

it makes sense to me, at least.

But they could shedule a double header at the start of the next series the Yanks are here. Charters don't mean anything then. A double header to start the next series would make sense. They'll be in town the following two days so flights and the next series doesn't matter.

Look. I don't care. I didn't have tickets. It just doesn't make sense financially for the Sox. I'm always thinking about Jerry's money. Nobody's gonna be there for the day game tomorrow. They'll be lucky to get 12,000. They could have sold it out if the scheduled it to start the next series the Yanks are here.

well...o.k.

i can see that logic. but, i disagree about the attendance tomorrow.
i can't disagree that they would have done better numbers later.
but, i do think that they would rather get the 3 games now, than 4 games later. b/c that is money NOW!

They are sold out. That's the reason for day/night games.

Yes. But the people who had tickets tonight aren't forced to use them or lose them tomorow. They can if they want or they can get a refund.

Most of the 38,000 that bought tickets won't be there tomorow afternoon. Thus, they lose money. And Doug, they aren't going to be better off earning interest on tomorows gate over a guarenteed sell out a little later in the year.

Granted. Jerry got free money tonight. He keeps the parking money tonight and all the beer and food money he made for making people hang around in the park until 9pm. That doesn't get refunded. LOL.

Tonight's game between the Chicago White Sox and the New York
Yankees has been postponed due to rain and re-scheduled for
tomorrow as part of a split doubleheader beginning at 1:05 p.m.
The regularly scheduled game between the Sox and Yankees will
begin at 7:11 p.m. Fans should retain their tickets and parking
for tonight's postponed contest and use them for tomorrow's
first game. Gates to the ballpark will open at noon.

I don't get that impression from the Sox E-mail.
It sounds like use'em or lose'em.

No. I heard on Comcast that they have that option but aren't obligated. I think that's what I heard. There is no way the Sox could do that. Maybe I'm wrong but I'd be shocked if they did that.

You may be right, I wasn't listening to comcast.

Now the post makes more sense to me  and you are right. Allowing more time to plan would seem to be the way to go.

with any sox rainout, you have the option to use your tickets for the makeup game. or you can exchange those tickets for a ticket of equal or lesser value for a future game, based on availability. you can also exchange the tickets for comiskey cash, which i generally do, and then buy kosher dogs and beer at a later date. parking passes can be redeemed for another parking pass, or comiskey cash

The Yankees would have to travel late at night if they played on thursday.

I'm wondering who is going to pitch Sunday against the Cubs? Danks is scheduled but he's throwing today. Will they bring someone up from the minors (Haeger?) or start Masset and use the entire bullpen?

I think it depends how Contrearas throws. He is starting to get back into that dominant groove from the first half of last year. I'd take him on 4 days rest over Danks.

You know who really makes out great with this rain out? The people with the Scout Seats behind home plate. They got to eat prime rib & drink all they wanted yesterday until they called it at 9pm.

Today they get to reuse the tickets and do the same thing. They sure as hell got their moneys worth.

Wow. That's usually a high class crowd in those seats. How the hell did they let you in? Even if you have the money to buy them I still thought they were more selective. LOL. I don't think the people in those seats are going to accept you Coach.

If anybody is watching this game on TV today see if they pan the crowd. Give me an estimate on the attendance. I'm just curious.

This is actually a pretty good crowd from what I've seen. Even better is the 5-2 lead we have going into the 8th.

The reason they didn't reschedule the game for the June series is because the Sox are in the middle of stretch of 20 straight days of games - the players would be suicidal to elect to play 21 games in 20 days.

Now Hawk's making an excuse for him. "He's agressive." The center fielder got it when he hit 2nd. He's stupid Hawk. This guy had a gun. But a weak arm guy would have thrown him out.
