I struggle to keep up with MLB's constantly changing rules regarding the international pool but my current understanding is individual signings are hard-capped at $2.3m. I could be way wrong.

Either way this guy is not at the level Robert or Moncada were at. He's a bit of a novelty because of the two-way "Ohtani" nature of his game, but he's only played in Japanese minor leagues. Still the Sox love their Cubans and the Cubans love their Sox, so there is certainly some level of mutual interest

just so that fan expectations don't exceed scout observations, no one is rating him like Ohtani. He isn't even that hot of a prospect and resembles more of a Viciedo. I've never seen him but this is just doing some additional research.

My expectations are low, I know he isn't gonna be a Robert type player. If he makes the majors, I would be happy.
