It’s a shame what this aborted baseball season has done to poor dolphin. You can tell his heart just isn’t in it |

High school kid in round 2. Dropped in draft as teams expect him to go to U Texas. Jared Kelly, possibly a white nationalist with that name. Draft Rankings: MLB Pipeline: 12 | Baseball America: 12 | FanGraphs: 20 |

That would rival world series rotations of the past. oh please please please find it bob. please. I have one last one left .... it will be glorious. |

Just an FYI, there is an all star "Mercy Rule" that at least one player from every team (no matter how much they suck) must make the ASG. But enjoy your Crochet Non-Accomplishments |

The pitcher who leads MLB in strikeouts and K's per 9ip, and in the AL is 3rd in WHIP and fewest walks allowed, 5th in avg against, 5th in all MLB in WAR and tied for most starts in MLB, top ten in AL ERA deserves to be there 100%. No argument to be made otherwise. |

Player empowerment. White Sox's Garrett Crochet wants to start, get extension if traded - ESPN Jesse Rogers Major League Baseball's trade deadline just got more complicated for teams interested in dealing for Chicago White Sox starter Garrett Crochet. Crochet, 25, wants a contract extension if he's traded in order to pitch in the postseason this year, according to sources familiar with the situation. Crochet also is making it known he has no desire to pitch out of the bullpen, citing health concerns for all of the above requests. The first-time starter already has doubled his single-season high in innings, pitching in 111⅓ after totaling just 12⅔ last year. In 21 starts, he also has struck out 157 batters, second most in the majors. However, there are concerns about his usage down the stretch considering the enormous jump in his workload. Crochet still has two more years of team control after this season before he becomes a free agent, but to push himself for another month in October, he wants security, according to the sources. And he prefers to stay in a starting pitching routine. Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow signed a 5-year, $136.5 million extension in a similar situation last December after being traded from the Tampa Bay Rays -- though he was a much more accomplished pitcher, having been a starter his entire career. Crochet broke into the league as a reliable reliever in 2020, undergoing Tommy John surgery two years later, before returning late last year. During the offseason, he expressed his desire to join the rotation and the rebuilding White Sox obliged. Now he's one of the more sought-after pitchers known to be available, but trading for him comes with a potential high price tag. It's not known whether Crochet would change his stance after being traded. The White Sox could always hold onto him and revisit a deal in the offseason. Teams interested in Crochet include the Dodgers, Orioles and Yankees, though the latter team might have already bowed out of the running, according to league sources. MLB Network's Jon Heyman was first to report Crochet's desire for an extension. |

Very curious on his market. Teams will try and get a discount if they have concerns on his innings down the stretch, but they are also getting a potential ace for 2 years at a discount (not sure if that $$ replaces the remaining years though). Even with an extension, etc. he's a dominant, left handed starter that is just entering his prime years. Sox should just give him the $$, but that's unlikely and they won't give 5 year deals..... Any trade has to return at least 2, maybe 3, top 100 prospects. You can't settle for a 19 year old who is 3 years away. You need 2 elite hitting prospects back, I don't think it matters what position they play, the Sox are lacking positional depth. Montgomery has taken a step back this year and the catcher are the only big time hitters..Since they won't pay Crochet and will trade Fedde while he's pitching well, it should be possible to have 4 top 100 hitting prospects along with 3-4 good pitchers, including Thorpe/Cannon. |

Cease was a more established player with the same number of controllable years, and they got 1 Top 100 guy for him. That's probably what you're going to get for Crochet. In my mind, that's not a trade worth making. |

They have their pick in this draft to add to the mix so probably 2 higher end pitchers coming and then a few ones they still like (Bush, Eder, Nastrini) and will probably see more of just from a depth perspective. What stinks though is that the clock is already ticking Crochet and Thorpe, but the White Sox are probably 2 years away from being average if they spend some money and young players actually perform in Chicago. By that time, we'll be talking about Thorpe being too expensive. |
