Beat me to it. Looks like Sale. Could be a big bullpen addition.

I think this is going surprise people with what he has.

I guess if they start the clock it's irrelevant this late. We'll see what he can do out of the bullpen.

Holy shit does that kid have good stuff. His stuff looks like another 45 who pitched for the Sox, except this is from the left side of the mound

Please send Cishek packing.

Crochet was called up specifically to see if he would be getting Cishek's spot on a postseason roster and I think that's safe to assume

It would be insane to waste 100 MPH strikes.

Credit to Rick Hahn. In this goofy season, he went for the arm who could blow people away in the post-season before the league can get a book on him.

Little bit of Chapman in him?

Seems like effortless velocity and the ball is on the hitter before you know it. I get people want to compare him to Sale but he seems a lot smoother to me.

the longer the stride = the shorter the rxn time for the batter.

adds 2 virtual mph easy.

That's why scouting college numbers doesn't mean a fucking thing.

It was an exciting draft this year. All pitchers. What's great is that this guy was supposed to be a reach at 11, and the second rounder Jared Kelley rated higher. He dropped due to signing concerns. He's signed up though.

I think that was a really good draft in the first two rounds. I am a little more intrigued with Kelley and how long that is going to take.

The umpire was checking up on Crochet before he went out there:

Drafted in June, Crochet hits 101 in debut

Quote:
Chicago catcher James McCann was warming up Garrett Crochet before the southpaw’s Major League debut during a 7-1 loss to the Reds Friday night when home-plate umpire Mark Carlson asked about the team’s top pick in the 2020 Draft and the No. 4 White Sox prospect, per MLB Pipeline.

“Mark Carlson, the umpire, asked him a little bit of Crochet's history,” said White Sox manager Rick Renteria, following the rookie's overpowering debut. “This is his first game professionally, period. He said, ‘You think he should be here?’ and [McCann] goes, ‘Well, you let me know after the inning.’

“So then Mac went back after the inning and warmed up Cish [Steve Cishek] and Mark Carlson said, ‘Yeah, I think he's OK. He should be here.’ Pretty much, there you go. That's the story in a nutshell. He's pretty good.”

So what do you do with the guy now? One outing, I know, but he seems too good to be a mop up kind of guy.

Put him in the Bummer role until (if) Bummer comes back?

Bummer is traveling with the team and threw a simulated game out of the bullpen. He should be activated before the end of the season. Give this guy Cishek's role for now

If Bummer is back joining Crochet, Foster, Huerer, Bummer, Fry and Colome it’s quite a bullpen. Hope Rodin shows something and can be the long reliever.

I think he will be an outstanding closer. That delivery looks like it will cause arm problems if he stays a starter.
