If the Sox fire Ricky, who do you think the Sox can get?

My first target would be Sandy Alomar, Jr. He was only in CLE for an interim role and got the most he possibly could out of that lineup. I'd hire him in a heartbeat.

Why the fuck not?

Let's have some fun. We all deserve it. Imagine him behind this wheel! He knows it, too.

How many tries did Billy Martin get from the Yankees?

He is our Billy Martin.

AJ would be great as well.

I really wouldn't mind Joey Cora getting a shot, either.

Whoever Hahn goes with is great. He's Midas.

I'd go Joey Cora with AJ as Pitching coach. Time for Coop to take a break. He's an old dawg. He can always consult.

Bring back Ozzie or give Alomar a shot.

Coop needs to be launched too.

Alomar would be Ricky R., Jr.

Too mild of a personality.

Cora is the perfect balance of fire and deep thinker-ness (word?). Plus, he also speaks Espanol.

That, and he won a fucking Championship here already and would have the Ozz-eroo on speed dial.

Its too perfect.

I don't think it's a fire and passion issue. I think it's a shitty strategy issue.

Alomar has proven he knows what the fuck he's doing considering his work with Cleveland this year.

Also, speaks Espanol.

Alomar was semi-impressive last night in a completely fucked up game.

Almost any warm body will do.

I don’t know enough about bench coaches around the league. I suppose I’d be fine with a guy like Cora but I’m too focused on the blood lust stage at this point to read up on anybody.

We all know the are not going to go with an experienced manager. So in this order:

AJ Pierzynski
Omar Vizquel
Sandy Alomar Jr.

The thing is, they could probably get Ozzie back on a minimum deal.

We have no idea if Cora is any good.

Joey Cora would be my choice.

Why? He was a coach on the Houston team that cheated. He brought the cheating with him to Boston.
You know, it's not coincidence that knowing pitches that are coming leads to success. Therefore, who knows whether he can manage or not.

Cora would be a total crapshoot.

You’re thinking of Alex Cora.

But either way, yes, it’ll be a crapshoot. Joey should be more of a known commodity to Hahn but you still never know. I’d take Alomar, Vizquel, et al. - just get rid of Ricky.

Oh, my bad. There's been so much talk about Alex Cora today, I totally misread it.

Post subject:  Re: Who is your manager

I'd be good with Sandy Alomar, Jr. A retired catcher that was known for handling pitchers is a great starting criteria for a manager. I don't need the fire and passion from my manager. I want a guy who the players respect that won't destroy the pitching staff.

At this point, I'd be ok with bringing Ozzie back, but I want a solid pitching coach alongside Ozzie. Coop needs to hang it up. Ozzie wasn't the bast bullpen manager in his time, but he sure did a great job of taking the heat off the players.

Regardless Ricky has to go. That series from game 2 and 3 was an embarrassment.

That guy Jirschle has won manager of the year and seems to be rising through their minor leagues. Does he speak Spanish? I think that is pretty important with this group of players.

Why isn't Ricky gone...like yesterday? I'm not putting up with him in 2021. I swear to God, I'll adopt the Miami Marlins or some shit.

I would bet he would learn if the job required, and he knows some of the current roster.

Quote:
Since he turned manager, Jirschele has helped groom some of baseball's brightest young stars like Luis Robert, who's currently the third best prospect in all of baseball and is likely to make the big league roster out of Spring Training.
