I like Snell, hes young and talented. I don't make that deal if Im Hahn. Kopech will be a solid arm and by all accounts Vaughn is ready now to play.

This sounds like analysts with too much time on their hands throwing crap against a wall.

I dont see the Sox doing a trade like this. Maybe if they are completely convinced Kopech is a head case that will never be right. But that is a big gamble with his talent level.

No way the Rays make this trade. Snell has actually had success in the big leagues, unlike Michael Co-Pitch.

I think he was adamant that the season be canceled, then he opted out unless he would get his full pay, then he changed his mind and played.

I don't make that trade if I'm the Sox.

So he's like Kopech but with balls?

This was just content that lifted from the Athletic. It's not real. It's speculation that the Rays want to trim payroll, and this is a trade the writer made up in scenarios. It's trying to keep my job relevant in the offseason content. White Sox Talk did a podcast on it for the same reason:

It's a boom or bust trade to get to the World Series. If this is truly on the table, I would seriously think about doing it. It all depends on how you look at the window. Do you hold pat confident of your 5 year window, or do you spend a lot of your 5 year window capital for '21 and '22?

Snell is a proven star pitcher. The other 3 are still prospects with Kopech maybe being less than a prospect.

If this trade went down they would still need another starter to get to the ALCS . Doesn't need to be a big name, but someone like Kenta Meada.

If you are Tampa do you really trade a guy on that friendly of a contract the year after making the World Series? I don't buy it.

Tampa is like Oakland. They are in a perpetual retrofit mode. They'll sacrifice a queen to get your bishop, rook, and knight.

It's a stretch for both sides. It's why it's a fair deal. I'll bet Snell would love to come here and not be treated like a kilobyte.

I don't see this one happening.

1. I don't see Vaughn going anywhere unless they are convinced that Eloy has to DH most of the time.
2. The major league ready positions the Rays need are C and LF.
3. The Rays might package Willie Adames given that the MLB #1 prospect is a SS due up in May. The White Sox don't need a SS, so it will be harder to put a trade together.

Trading Snell to the Dodgers for their young catcher Ruiz and maybe a Kiki Hernandez and a couple of young pitchers is a more likely scenario.

me neither. I'd expect Snell to be pretty good, so it wouldn't be a Quintana situation but the Sox are giving up three guys who are all projected to be high end MLB players, two of whom could be on the roster opening day.

Why not just spend the money on a good free agent?

They shouldn’t trade shit. If they want a LHP sign one.
