So it looks like Kenny is about to unload all the free agents to be.

Buehrle to the Mets or Cards & Dye to one of the NL west conteneders is what I've been hearing most often. Nothing said about Iguchi.
What are you guys hearing?
I would think Thome may have some value for a team like the Angels.

Lastings Millege, NY's top OF prospect who is supposedly a star in the making, but not good enough to play for the Mets the past 2 seasons, is going to be dangled by the Mets, and that's a name the White Sox may want in exchange for Buerhle.

Dye to the Padres or Dodgers....

I don't think either trade takes place though until sometime in mid-late July. Let a bidding war develop.

I said it before, KW should be on the phone with the Astros regarding Uribe.

From what I have read, they may start trading bullpen pieces, and they already have a questionable rotation.

I know Adam Everett is out, but I think at some point soon, the Astros may have to start to think about the 2008 season as well.

Maybe it's me but I just don't see Iguchi being a big draw for many clubs. He'd be a bench player on most other clubs since usually 2B is not a big bat position. Hopefully you could get some value because he's been through a race, but most likely you are looking for a AA mediocre prospect and not a top line prospect.

Who else is on the block?

As a hitter, his numbers do stack up favorably against the majority of 2B in the league, but he's not really a difference maker so I tend to agree that we'd get some mid-level player for him.

No reason to give up on the season in June. The Astros are proof of this. Besides the return value would be diminished now. Kenny will get more in return if he waits until late July.

I'm on board with waiting, but at the same time, I'm not optimistic they can save their season. I think they will get out of this rut, and those next 17 games, they COULD do pretty well, but they don't have the team to catch either Detroit or Cleveland.

There is no reason to trade now. I agree. You have until July 31. You'll get the same then as you will now. Maybe more because teams will be desperate and willing to out bid other teams at that point. Especially for Buehrle. He is by far the best pitcher on the trading block.

true, but the '05 stros were 15-30, only 45 games in. the sox are nearly 70 games in, and are showing no signs of putting together a super hot streak to jump back in contention

It looks like there will be plenty of bats available as a rent-a-player at the deadline, but I see only 3 quality starters.
1) Willis
2) Buehrle
3) Harrang
4) Trachsel
If Kenny wants to maximize his return for Buehrle, he needs to act before the Marlins put Willis on the market. The one thing he's got in his favor is the fact that the Marlins likely won't trade within their division where Phily, Mets & Braves all may end up as "buyers"

The Reds won't be trading Harang. They just signed him to a four year deal and he's among the best in the NL.

And shooting down the third option to Buehrle, no one except Harry would mention Trachschell and Buehrle in the same breath.

It was just my lame attempt to show the steep drop off in quality
Trax is quietly having a solid year for a very bad O's team and would come much cheaper than Buehrle.

Anyway there is some talk that the A's may move Harden and the Giants Morris but I'm not sure what their contracts look like, and what their value would be.

I just read a KW quote about waiting to see what spark Pods & Earstad provide before making any moves
Good Luck with that Kenny.

It really is too late to wait for a run. As Boers has said several times over the last few days, they would need to play .666 ball just to win 93 games. I would love to see the players get hot, but only to improve their trade value. Anything else is fool's gold.

They would have to get back to at least .500 by the all star break for Kenny not to rip the team apart.
