Sox had that last year. Goofy Covid season or not, it was still playoffs. Cubs won a WC card game and the DS in 2015. Sox have gone out with a whimper two years in a row.

In 2015 I asked the board if the Cubs getting bounced when they did was actually good for them. I was mocked pretty hard for that.
But I ask you, Sox fans, is it possible that this postseason bounce will end up being something that really propels them in the postseason next year?

I still believe that the bitter taste of defeat is a strong motivating factor.

Astros were a bad matchup. That was apparent since at least September and probably earlier. The Sox (Larussa) didn't seem to care about the opponent or attempting to put themselves in the best position to win a series against the Astros. We reluctantly accepted that because he is HOF Manager Larussa. His philosophies did not prove correct about home field, Lynn starting in Houston, or reserving relievers for another moment that would never come. I think they would have had a different outcome in a series against any of the other AL playoff participants.

In all seriousness - congrats to the Sox fans on the board, it had to be a fun season to root for the Sox. The team is staring down 3-5 more central division titles. If the Sox bring this crew back next year and don’t suffer the incredible injury rate they had this year, this is likely a 100 win team. Would not surprise me if the Sox were the #1 seen in the AL in 2022. This team got its first taste of legit full blown playoff baseball and they will be better for it. Add a Verlander or a Scherzer to the mix and watch out. It’s a hell of an entertaining and fun team to watch.

Being young and good the year before just means you’ve got another shot.

I know your schtick is to be blissfully ignorant but two of the three teams that have moved on to the CS so far are lower seeded teams, with another pushing the series to Game 5 in the DS. The higher seeded teams have only a slight advantage in mlb playoffs over the past 20 or so years.

In the case of the Braves/Brewers I actually think the Braves had more talent. There was just no comparison between the Sox and 'Stros. Houston is FAR SUPERIOR talent wise, but you tell yourself it was just a bad matchup if it makes you feel better.
