Zavala is out of options, right? So is McGuire, who I thought would end up at Wrigley once Contreras gets dealt. So I can't see them running with three catchers past May 1. Also, the Jays wanted Collins instead of Mercedes? It's not like either one of them can catch well, and the Jays' #1 prospect is a catcher who will start at AAA. |

An actual prospect who for multiple years is a truly great player is rare. Still too early to check off a lot of Sox prospects as failures. There could be a possibility of "zero" current Cubs prospects being great players with their putrid history of talent evaluation. Seems sabermetrics expands the scope of what a great player is. There are old standards, now new more lenient standards. Leadership nonsense is slowly but surely making its way as a criterion spewed for the gullible. |

Grandal and Eloy are both DH's. I'm assuming they made this deal because Reese can actually field and handle the pitching staff. If that's the case.....fine. The more games Grandal is at DH the better. |
