Nah. If he'd played his entire career in a Sox uniform he would have a better than average chance, as he'd have hit more Home runs. Likely would have exceeded 400. Plus there were whispers that he was a roids guy too, though if he were he was overshadowed by all of the other guys who were using during that era. |

I never cared for the guy, but his BA was remarkably consistent until his last year, when he hit .255: .319 .282 .301 .315 .305 .320 .317 .292 .302 .298 .363 .317 .310 .303 Slash line of .309/.369/.502, OPS+ of 125 (Baines was 121). Had just one peak year (2nd in MVP). I'll give him Hall of Very Good, not HoF. |

Sheffield spent 2 seasons in Detroit, late career Maggs hit 28 and 21 home runs those 2 seasons. Sheffield's gone after those 2 seasons and Maggs hits 9, 12, 5 home runs on his way to retirement. |

Surprisingly similar batting numbers. Neither were good in the field, though Lee was able to hide a bit more in LF and 1B. Maggs has the ASGs, MVP votes and the benefit of being the best player on a World Series team. |

Carlos Lee avg nearly 100 runs driven in per season for his career. That is nothing to sneeze at. Plus the roids allegations with Maggs were legitimate I believe. I remember seeing some before and after pictures of him and it sort of left no doubt that he was on steroids. |

I remember all the 2004 knee / medical bullshit well. Maggs was my guy up until all of that. He proved to be as big of a piece of shit as his agent Boras. Turns out Sox didn't need him. |

Pizza pizza guy moved the fences in when they were recruiting Maggs to jump to the Tigers in free agency and he complained about the dimensions. Tigers gonna end up with 3 first ballot HoFer out of that era: Cabrera, I think Pudge got in on first ballot and Verlander's looking like he might make a run at 300, sitting at 241 after getting his 15th win this season. 1.73 ERA 0.85 WHIP |

.309 career avg over nearly 7000 at bats is pretty goddam good. Not legendary or HOF good, but still really good. 38.8 career WAR. Really good hitter, great career, but not close to Cooperstown. |
