Looks like Cease finished in second place in the Cy Young voting, but a distant second to Verlander. He had a great year, and the Sox will likely need another great year out of him if they're going to do anything next year.

It figures to be a quiet off-season for them from a free agent standpoint, but it would be nice to have a thread to post about whatever happens.

Three years ago, I was foolish enough to think that the WHite Sox were going to be solid contenders for the next 6-8 years. These hopes are probably completely dashed for good for me. I am sick of this organization under Reinsdorf. WIthout major moves the existing team has no chance of winning anything and it is all on Reinsdorf. The White Sox are now the KC Royals or Oakland A's except they have decent player development and scouting people. We should have known this was going to happen with the hire of LaRussa which in the end was a last gasp effort by Reinny to hope against hope that the drunken SOT could by some miracle win him a championship before he is carried off of his moldy old chairman's chair and goes to the landfill for the remains of greedy old billionaires.

But they just got the winter off to a great start by signing Mets lefty legend Nate Fisher, or something like that.

Ugh. I mean, I guess they could possibly use him, but I am preparing to be underwhelmed.

Fuck this team. I am really close to being done. They are going to waste a lot of good years of some players.

Once again, Reinny has refused to repay the loyalty of White Sox fans who showed up in 2022 despite a piss poor team on the field. The team has talent but needs a major re-work of it along with some money being spent. They won't get it with Reinny. IF Hahn had the balls he'd re-sign but instead he will settle for the scraps off of Reinny's table. Fuck Reinny.

The only one that really looks to be a tragic waste is Dylan Cease. Other than that it's collection of some really good players but not studs. Eloy is appearing to be a bust. Robert....maybe.

My biggest problem is their complete disregard for defense. You cannot mash your way to a championship with constantly giving runs away.

Far from me to apologize for JR but I need to see another year. Want to see many of these guys play not under LaRussa or Renteria.

I don't think Eloy is a bust - once they finally move him to permanent DH he'll be an asset. He played 1/2 a season and finished with an .858 OPS, 16 hr and 54 RBI. Don't put him in the outfield and you're fixing 2 problems.

A week after being moved to permanent DH Eloy trips over something in the warmup circle and tears his ACL

THIS....he seems to hurt himself even without playing defense.

It looks like the Dodgers are non-tendering Cody Bellinger:

Any interest? Seems like a White Sox bargain basement type of signing.

He’s still good at defense, no? Even though he can’t hit anymore? Kenny prefers his vets thoroughly washed before they sign.

Yeah he did. The article says he dislocated his shoulder celebrating a homerun during the 2020 NLCS and that he was never really the same again. If that's true, that's a hell of a way to derail your career.

He supposedly is still good at defense, but I think his inability to hit the broad side of a barn with a shovel puts him into Kenny territory.

Adam Dunn 2.0. Atleast he can play all OF positions and 1B.

If Bellinger were any good, the Dodgers would be keeping him. The Sox need to stop rebuilding off the scrap heaps of other teams. It just doesn't work.

The guy is only 27. What the hell happened to him? Is it injury, is he a head-case or did the league just figure out how to pitch to him?

According to reports, he hasn't been the same since hurting his shoulder celebrating

They absolutely need to put him in as the DH and leave him there. The guy could legitimately lead the league in power numbers. This also means, though, that they also need to trade for a left handed hitting power hitting outfielder. Its just totally frustrating to watch how mismanaged the 40 man roster is for this club and it has been mismanaged for pretty much three years in a row.

I remember watching that game and the celebration of basically hitting each other with forearm shivers. You could tell that he was hurt and talking to a guy who was a Dodger fan and telling him how stupid that celebration was.

Bellinger always had a kind of odd swing with a pronounced upper cut. Pitchers learned how to attack these types of swings with going after the hitter with breaking pitches high in the zone as well as inside heat. Then he started making adjustments in his swing and basically got LOST as a hitter. He's been lost for a long time and because his original swing was so unique I don't know if he is fixable as a hitter.

Meatpants hates the signing because Clevinger broke COVID protocols two years ago. If he was so concerned with COVID how come he chooses to live his life as an obese 400 pound man?

Nobody ever thinks about that or has the balls to say it. If you're walking around obese you're more susecptible to COVID, thus you are endangering others. Suddenly it isn't about the collective when it's their behavior that's being questioned.
