Now, if they can just 18 out of 23, I'd jump on the band wagon.

Let's start with two in a row. That bull pen still looks scary.

Yes it certainly does, Joe. And to think... just yesterday morning Mr. Don Cooper went on the North show explaining how the offense was more of an issue this season.

Ooops.

Two in a row? They've already won 3 in a row

In that case, watch out Detroit!

Posted this in another thread, but they need to have a 5 run lead (at least) to feel comfortable. That bullpen is just awful. Unless their starting pitcher hands the ball to Jenks or goes the distance, they just aren't going to win many close games.

I know it's impossible but with the amount of AL Central games they'll have in the 2nd half if they can go on a REALLY good tear and teams like the Indians continue to lose steam, they could make things interesting. I'll put down the kool aid now.

they'll make a run, and give us false hope. they'll end up closing to with in say 4 or 5 games, then suck it up for 2 weeks and be out of it for good

Jesus, are you talking about the Cubs, or the Sox, or the Fire or what here?

I won't get excited until they are closer to the Tigers/Indians than they are the Royals.

Sounds like 2003 when we blew that last home series against the Twins.

I'll reiterate what several posters have already pointed out, and that this team is going nowhere fast with this bullpen, even if the starting pitching (outside of Contreras, who by all accounts appears to be trade fodder) remains consistent, and the offense comes around a bit.

Hmmm, that second half resurgence doesn't seem to be working out so well, even with the all-important Buehrle extension.

Exactly - he's not coming back next year so hopefully getting those numbers up can get the team a usable player for next season.

Definitely. The team hasn't been good since the all-star break last season, and they are going nowhere fast this season. I know Kenny has continued to make comments that he believes in the talent, but I see gaping holes all over the diamond, and the bullpen is absolutely the worst collection of garbage that I've seen.

It's too early for me to count them out with the amount of division games remaining. Maybe I'm just optimistic, but right now, I would hate to see a white flag sale. that being said, something must be done with this bullpen.

You mean you don't like the "five 95 mile per hour firebreathers"?
The PR department sure pulled that spot quick. It was annoying.

It's not a white flag when you suck. You can only surrender when you at least have a glimmer of hope. This team needs to rebuild and the team that won the world series is all but gone after this(except a few players who are in a position to be good for a while).

This team isn't going to the playoffs, so they should start hoping to find a way to do it next year.

But they're only 10 under. Where was the Astros at this time in 05? I know I know I'm sick of hearing that too. The Astros had 1/5th the talented teams in the division that the Sox have, don't they.

This Baltimore series made me cringe. Cleveland will be the last barometer. if they lose the series, they'll fire sale. Say sayonara to Dye.

They are 13.5 out of the wild card. It's over. I'm a Sox fan, but the best chance to make the playoffs is to try and set things up for next year.
