SCOOP: Jerry Reinsdorf, the chair and majority owner of the Chicago White Sox, was spotted walking out of Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s office on Tuesday.

Reinsdorf is in the Music City for the Major League Baseball Winter Meetings, where team owners meet to make trades and sign free agents.

Why it’s curious: There’s been talk for months that Reinsdorf is looking to move the Sox from Guaranteed Rate Field when the team’s lease expires in six years.

He’s refuted the idea … but: Reinsdorf recently acknowledged, “If we have six years left, we’ve got to decide what’s the future going to be?” according to MLB.com.

Sad part is, he'll be healthy as a horse in 6 years.

Uncle Jerry will soon fade from the public eye like Mama Bear has over the past year.

Pay Tom Brady? Haha, that's hilarious. What am I, a goddam money tree? haha, next question.....Yes, I'm hiring the parking lot attendant because I feel he can get this turned around quick. Like in 8 years, two years after we move from 3rd biggest market to I don't know, maybe Jefferson City, Missouri.

The Arlington Heights site makes far more sense for every imaginable reason but ultimately Chicago will have no choice but to give them a billion dollar stadium if the Bears are in fact moving.

Any shakedown attempt is going to be greeted with laughter.

For someone who is moving, he sure has been buying a lot of land on the near west side.

Does anyone actually buy that the Chicago White Sox are headed out of town? I seem to recall something similar happening in the 90's but substitute Tampa-St. Pete for Nasvhille. My dad's dog-track buddies down along Sarasota-Bradenton area actually seemed excited by the prospect of the White Sox main team being just up the street in Tampa. iirc, the White Sox farm team played in that area at the time. Never happened, Tampa got the Devil Rays and White Sox a new stadium.

Last I paid attention Nashville's MLB expansion team was still looking for a deep-pockets billionaire to back the project. Maybe Mark Cuban can be enticed to use some of his Mav's sale proceeds to lend some financial backing to a Nashville MLB team. The financial backer thing is probably how Salt Lake City will end up with an MLB franchise. Hurricanes owner throws in Charlotte could steal the MLB team from Nashville; Charlotte's a bigger TV market too.

If it happens they'll go to Arlington Heights. A baseball stadium would fit easily on the property with the Bears and it would increase the value for the Bears significantly since the bars/restaurants/KFC would be full an extra 81+8 playoff games a year.

A FINAL NOTE ABOUT Chair Jer' and Nashville:

Since 2019, a group called "Music City Baseball," headed by businessman John Loar, has been aggressively seeking a team for the nation's 35th-largest metropolitan statistical area.

A baseball adviser to the consortium?

None other than Tony La Russa, the Baseball Hall of Famer who so pathetically brought a lengthy White Sox rebuild crashing down with his "Sleepy Senor" act in 2022.
