I hope this is another bullshit internet rumor. MLB sources told the Tribune's Phil Rogers that the Diamondbacks played Conor Jackson in left field Monday in order to showcase him for a potential trade to the White Sox. The Diamondbacks aren't giving up Jackson for Jose Contreras and we can rule out Javier Vazquez as a possibility -- he's in Chicago because he demanded a trade out of Arizona -- so it looks like they're targeting Jon Garland or maybe even John Danks. The White Sox would probably want a quality prospect along with Jackson in return for Danks. Even that might not be enough. |

It would make next to no sense to trade Danks for another prospect at this point. |

It's not going to be Danks and it is a year early for Garland. The Sox traded a top outfield prospect for Vazquez back in the day. I assume there is a market for Contrearas and they will get a good prospect in return for him. The Brewers will be in the mix with their recent pitching injuries. |

That might work out for both the Sox and the Cubs if Contreras goes to the Brewers and continues the year he's having. |

i don't see why the d'backs would be buyers at this point. they need to unload hudson before he asks for too much and they give him up for nothing in free agency. they need a few more pieces to their puzzle to be able to compete with the dodgers and the padres in the west. i say move hudson for some prospects and keep building for next year since their young team will run out of gas down the stretch. |

The Brewers will be in the mix with their recent pitching injuries. Vazquez has a limited no trade that allows him to veto any trade to the 9 west coast teams. If there is buyer for Javy I would think it would be the Mets & Braves The D-backs might be looking at Willis whom the Fins do not want to trade within their division. |

If we could get anything beside trimming payroll for Contreras, I'd be extremely surprised, and happy. Saying that, I don't think we could get much of anything for Contreras so I wouldn't get my hopes up. |

Contrearas will have an ERA in the very low 4s in the NL. |

Maybe, but I don't see teams teams willing to pick up the contract (w/out the Sox making a contribution). |

I think they will. It is a reasonable deal for a SP in this crazy market. |
