I know, I'm the same way. I can look at the Cubs objectively and am not a hater type Sox fan. I don't root for them to lose or get pleasure out of it. They were a very hateable team with guys like Barrett and (what was that pud reliever's name?) but now they are a pretty likeable team that is entertaining to watch. I watch Sox games first but at commercial flip to the Cubs. Local baseball is fun to watch. |

What makes this a "serious warning"? Am I to infer that there will be some dire consequences for me if I go into the Cubs forum and post something about them being a mediocre team in an atrocious division in an inferior league? |

One of my greatest memories is leaving Wrigley Field after Game 7 of the Marlins Championship Series and looking at the sad faces as I was walking through Wrigleyville. Even the horses looked like they were going to cry. That's #2 on my greatest sporting moment that I witnessed in person. #1 was being at the Super Bowl this past year. Good times.... |

It's Sox fans (and Cub fans) that act like this that cause so much animosity between the two sides in this city. If the Cubs do well this year and win it all, I'll be happy for all of my friends and few family members who are fans. I'll be upset the Sox weren't there again but will also have a good time being around for it. Sure there will be the inevitable Cub fan assholes who talk crap to me and other Sox fans about how their World Series is a bigger deal, they have more fans, their parade was bigger, tv ratings were better, etc. but I'm not going to make those assholes turn me into the stereotypical bitter Sox fan. It will be a much more fun and interesting summer/fall for me and many others in Chicago if the Cubs are in it which is a hell of a lot better than if they fall out and we have a Mets/Angels World Series. |

When the Sox won in 2005, I was happy for my friends and co-workers who were Sox fans. SOMEBODY in Chicago got to celebrate a WS title. That's important. Did I enjoy it? Nope. Can't say that I did. But I certainly didn't root against the Sox and would have received no joy had they failed. When the Cubs win it all, I certainly won't waste my breath trying to one up Sox fans...I'll just know how satisfying it must've been in '05. The animosity is stupid. Reveling in other's pain is bizarre. |

Are you inferring that you're a Colt fan because I was at the Super Bowl this past year as well ( button 48 ) and although it was possibly a "once in a lifetime" experience, watching the Bears lose in the rain does not go down in my books as my top sporting moment. |

[/quote] No, I am most definately a die hard Bears fan and season ticket holder. Even though the weather and the second half of the game sucked, I still wouldn't trade the experience for anything. As far as what I was doing at that game 7, I was at one time one of those fans who rooted for both teams, but for people like Harry, interleague games, and Dusty Baker, it became obvious to me that I had to pick a side and I had to go with my South Side roots and have never looked back. |
