Don't we have anyone in the minors even able to field at the ML level?
Uribe has been terrible this season, and I highly doubt the team uses the option it has on him for about $5 million next season. Saying that, there is not a SS in the minors who can step in, and if they keep it internal, the job would be Alex Cintron's, who did hold the job in Arizona earlier in his career. That's hardly an answer though, but I don't believe the list of free agent SS is that good. Perhaps, they let Uribe go, and find a cheap defensive SS to play with Cintron (that could even be Uribe as I can't believe many teams would be clamoring for a .220 hitter who looks to have lost a step defensively. Then again, why would we want that?). My conclusion is don't look for a very good SS to be on the White Sox next season, even if we let Uribe become a free agent, and, no, I don't see the White Sox shelling out $25-$30 million a season for Alex Rodriguez.
BTW, he just made an excellent play defensively picking a runner off 2nd on an infield hit....
