ive been on kenny pretty much this whole season. last year's team simply underachieved. kenny put more than enough pieces there to at least make the playoffs. the sox players themselves failed last year.

this year, the front office has failed horribly. sure you can throw some of the blame at the players along with ozzie, cooper, and greg walker, but they can only work with the players they have on the roster. ozzie and coop have zero confidence in that terribly shitty bullpen, and when you're bench consists of rookies like andy gonzalez (who i actually do like) and awful old guys like cintron, you arent gonna win much.

couple some bad GM Moves with a few injuries here and there, and you've got a recipie for a 70 win team.

Hate to ask this question this way, but what should Kenny have done??? Overpaid for the injury prone/aging Dave Roberts? Signed Gil Meche or Ted Lilly for high end $$ given their records against AL/or at least better lineups? Made a blockbuster trade...if so, who and for what??? Ichiro, Manny Ramirez, ARod,...keep dreaming.

Please withhold the passion of Rowand, or the story of the career year of Willie Harris being all that stands between Sox '07 greatness

kenny should have realized that macdougal and sisco were in KCs bullpen, and were then traded for a reason. he should have done a better job of improving the bullpen. i know thats a crapshoot during most years and for most teams, but the pen sucked last year and its even worse this year. im not saying the pen has to be as good as it was in 2005, but when you cannot count on anybody to get outs other than your closer (and even he has been shaky at best as of late) you have to blame the GM for that

he should have done a better job of restocking the sox farm system with some top tier prospects after getting rid of tons of them for guys like vazquez, both alomars, carl everett, thome, etc.

face it, the only good move kenny has made since 2005 was marte for mackowiak. i like vazquez, but chris young is tearing it up out in arizona, and boy could the sox use some offense from the CF spot

The point, eloquently stated by RR, speaks to the inability of most to foresee how virtually every player on the team (offensive, defensive, pitchers) would underperform for so long with some notable exceptions. Certainly you'll have bumps in the road but there's no reason this team with all its proven individual talent should be playing so poorly. That is hardly the GM's fault; what happens next, however, is on Kenny Williams.

Chris Young is hitting .234 with a .279 OBP. He has 14 HR and 15 SB which is good, but Ozzie benched a player for putting up the numbers that Chris Young is displaying.

On the other hand Vazquez is having his best season in a handfull of years. If KW wished to trade him 90% of the league would be interested.

I would do the Thome trade again.

Sisco for a backup first baseman is a risk you should take every time. That one was low risk for a guy who has previously shown something in the MLB.

The problem, as you point out, was relying on all of these guys to be good. You can live with taking a shot on one guy out of the mix but not all of them.

a apologi, i thought youngs BA was higher.

what pisses me off more than anything is that kenny is basically saying 'were still in this and im not having a fire sale'

the hell you shouldnt! look, i like dye, iguchi and even vazquez, but you have to get rid of them for some guys who will contribute for the next 4-5 years. in case you havent noticed, kenny, the indians and tigers are not going to be getting worse anytime soon, and the twins always seem to be in the mix-- though if the fail to resign santana and hunter, they'll be in the 70 win boat along with the sox.

KW needs to made a concious (sp?) effort to get this team back into contention soon. who has he drafted that has made an impact here in the bigs? mags, carlos lee, buerhle, rowand, those were all ron schuler picks. brandon mccarthy isnt even on the team anymore. brian anderson sucked at the big league level, and for whatever dumbfuck reason ryan sweeney is still in charlotte. bobby jenks was claimed off waviers out of the angles system. simply put, the sox have not had ONE single stud player come out of their farm system since KW took over as GM. and that is simply appallingly bad and unacceptable

Actually, I think the sox would love to have Marte back. If Im correct he is lights out in Pittsburg.

If Kenny thinks the White Sox are still in it, he's sadly mistaken.
