Currently on pace to go 26-136. Unreal. Shameful that teams have done NBA-style bottomouts in back-to-back seasons. But hey, gets Chicago off the hook.

Draft order isn't nearly as important in MLB as it is in the NBA. Therefore, that can't really be the motivation for both of these teams being this bad. Instead, at least in the case of the White Sox, it's just rank cheapness. If they spend some money, they could graduate from being historically bad to merely conventionally bad.

Fucking Reinsdorf. There's only two quotes you need to define him. 1) he told Jordan to his face that he will regret paying him. B) go for 2nd place and maybe you'll get lucky and win it all.

There's plenty of other things about him that are distasteful in the case of him being 2nd class but putting a veneer on it. I've got a list as long as my arm going back to day one. When Cub fans complain about Ricketts, I laugh.

I'm down on him, but not to the same extent as you. His management for the last ten years has been abysmal, but you had a period in the 90's and aughts where his spending was at least mid-pack. What I'm saying in a round about way is it could be worse, we could have had A's or Marlins type ownership.

Only a few MLB teams haven't won a playoff game this decade. The Rockies are one of them.

Which other teams haven’t won a playoff game this decade?

Let me look into it.

It's not the White Sox though. They have won a playoff game this decade.

Is your cubs line still .5 playoff wins this year? Will you take one of my proven terrible bets? I hate to ask because I think that's probably one too many requests.

Through 50, still on pace for 26-136. They'd have to go 33-79 to tie the Sox and .294 baseball just doesn't seem like something they're capable of so far.

Still on pace to lose 136. I'd like to think the Cubs are helping.

Need to go 32-71 to tie the 2024 Sox, which requires them to win more than twice as often as they've won so far.

Maybe is they played in Old Comiskey, they could avoid 100 losses. But the gentrification of the neighborhood, the waning influence of the Daley family machine, the loss of the Robert Taylor homes, and the postponed grudge match between flapjacks and the doctor have sapped the team’s morale.

Quote:
The Rockies were swept over the weekend by the Mets and now have a 9–50 record, setting a new low for the worst record after 59 games in baseball’s modern era starting in 1901. After ending April with a 5–25 record, Colorado doubled that up by losing 24 more games in May and another to start June. The club has been swept 10 times in its 20 series thus far, and has four separate losing streaks of at least eight games, including its current one.

getting swept in 10 out of 20 series is a wild stat .

Rockies need to win 30% of their remaining games not to break the White Sox loss record.
Now at 19% but 38% last year.
