Baseball Tonight is featuring the top 3 homeruns in franchise history. Each team gets a night. The Mets were today and the Cubs are tomorrow. I was curious as to if anyone had a guess as to which 3 they would choose for our Sox. Any personal favorites...? Here are mine..granted they are dated by my age.

3. Bo Jackson's bomb on the night they clinched the division in 93. This is the first time I ever witnessed my favorite team clinching a post-season birth.

1. Crede's walkoff against cleveland in September of 05.

Jeez. Konerko, Pods and Blum have to be 1,2 and 3. They were all in World Series. Pods and Blum won the game. Konerko's grand slam brought us from 2 down to 2 up.

pods and blum for sure, though konerkos was a slam, it ultimately wasnt the game winner.

Konerko's wasn't the game winner but a homer in the World series that brings you from 2 down to up 2 is pretty damn big. So he's 3rd behind Pods and Blum in my mind.

Throw the rest where you want. Anybody hit one in the 1917 series. LOL. We won a couple games in the 59 series. Maybe one of those guys hit a homer. It's got to be World Series homers first, then playoff homers and then everything else.

I would venture a guess and say that Konerko's slam won't even break Top 5. Thomas' 400 would probably be ahead of that one.

You might be right but why? How can a regular season homer top a World Series homer? Who cares if it's 400 or 500?

Unless it's hit on the last day to get in the playoffs no regular season homer should top a post season homer that is done in a winning game. Period.

I honestly did not include Blums or Pods for the simple fact that they were obvious choices. In my mind those are 2 of the best single plays in Chicago sports history. I included Bo for nostalgia, Paulie cause he is my favorite Post-Fisk era player, and Crede because I can still hear Hawk say...JOOOOOOE CRRRRREDEEE. Also, it is easy to say Pods, Blum, Paulie. I was just being creative.

Outside of the world series ones, I remember Ventura's walk off granny off the Goose in new comskey.

Those are the kinds of thigns I was going for. I remember that one to. I also remember Warrnen Newson hitting a big HR off Jeff Montgomery of the Royals in 93. I dont think it was a walk off. I could be mixing up two games. Valentin and Carlos Lee both hit some big ones against the Cubs. I do not remember a walk-off HR that comes to mind in 2000, but I am sure their was one. Also, I think I was present for the last roof shot at the old park..Ron Kittle.

-A.J hit a walk off against the Dodgers in 05

-A.J's game winner against the Cubs last year.

-Craig Greback and Ozzie Guillen went back to back off Nolan Ryan

-Fisk's homer to make him the all time leading catcher in homers (Piazza has since topped him). Off Charlie Huff if I remember correctly. I know it was in Texas.

All of these were nice but nothing like a post season homer. I remember that Newson homer. But those type homers arent't gonna make ESPN's list. Every team has a few dozen of those in their history.

Correct top three, just reverse the order. Mr. Vincent Jackson's HR was the greatest I've ever seen in my life. The Mariners' 3rd baseman went back on it like he had a play, stopped, turned around and watched the LF do the same pointless thing. I was hoarse and hungover for the next two days

Konerko's grand slam in the WS was not a walk-off and an argument could be made that the HR really wasn't that necessary for the Sox to win that game. Thomas' 400th was, at that time, the jewel in his crown as a power hitter. With that being said, and if he were still in Chicago, Thomas' 500th in Toronto would even rank higher on that list.

Konerko's grand slam is easily number 1. Pods is #2.

I was about to post the exact same thing. I was at that game also and thought it was going to be a popup to the shortstop but the thing just kept going. It was one of the strangest HRs I've ever seen.

I viewed the White Sox celebration with quiet respect.

my favorite part of pods' HR was that it came right after joe buck wondered if brad lidge was suffering a hangover effect from albert pujols' HR in the NLCS. he didn't think so.
