The kid's got 13 HR's and 40 RBI's after 60 games. What more do you want?

I've officially jumped on the Josh Fields bandwagon. He's exceeding my defensive expectations at third, is faster than I first thought...and he hit 2 HRs when I went to the game on my birthday last Friday. He's earned a major league roster spot next year

Higher OBP, BA, Less strikeouts & better defense

Fair enough, but he is providing a significant jump in the team's power numbers (if that is even possible with this group).

If his name was Juan Campos, he'd be my (and Ozzie's) guy.

Despite striking out one out of every 3 AB's He's done better than I thought he would. He looks confident & comfortable. Assuming he learns the strike zone, and stops swinging out of his shoes with 2 outs, he'll be an all star caliber 3B

Would Sox fans like to see him start over Crede when healthy?

No. Crede must start next year if the Sox are to get any return on a trade. In addition he is far superior defensively and equal offensively. I am, however, changing my stance about Fields starting in LF next year. He could take over DH duties for Thome against LH, give Crede a day off 1-2 times a week and play LF the rest of the time.

Yeah that Duane Shaffer really blew it there with Fields!

Fact. Brian Anderson was scouted by Kenny himself in Tucson as much as any GM could look at a number 1 draft pick, Tucson is where Anderson grew up, where Anderson played college ball, where the Sox have a minor league facility, where some owners live, where I........well...for later discussion

Not only did he scout Anderson, he cleared the way for him to ascend by trading away several other CF prospects. He also did not sign any legitimate MLB level talent to battle Anderson for the position. This is not a statement about the results of those moves. It is merely to back up Bigfan's point that Anderson was KW's guy.

Under those circumstances, I really have to wonder how KW did not mandate that Ozzie leave him in there for at least a full season.

Miss a little, miss a lot, Frank.

You must dig thru earlier posts to catch the joke. As Dr. KNW would say.

Well if Crede keeps taking the CLEAR then he should start at 3rd and move Fields to left.

lol

Agreed with the defense, completely DISagree with the offense.

Crede had one good year. Sure, we have only seen one MLB year from Fields, but he has shown this consistency in the minors for as long as he has been there. While it may only be speculation at this point, I still say Fields will dominate Crede offensively when it is all said and done.

Possibly, but I am talking about today.

Even during the early days, Crede always was clutch. So at his worst I think he could match the under .250 hitting and record setting strikeout pace of the current Josh Fields.
