Kid's got some good stuff. I just hope to hell one of these young guys can be a stud. I mean sub 3.00 ERA type stud. Everybody like Gio Gonzalez. If both these kids are good we've got something next year. |

yeah the rotation wasnt all that bad this year. if the bullpen isnt majorly retooled, could be another 85 loss year next year. brewers need to score some runs. |

He'll get an opportunity to compete against Floyd/Denks for the 4 and 5 spot in the rotation, and, if Kenny/Ozzie keeps the best 11 or 12 pitchers, could earn a bullpen spot. |

Im not sure how competitive we will be next year, but if we can make the right moves and restock the farm system I think there is definitely reason for optimism in coming years. |

I watched the first inning, and I was hoping the radar was wrong, but his fastball was at 85 mph. The only thing that matters is results, but Id hope he can hit 90-91. |

Yeah. He was faster then 85. No doubt in my mind he was 89 - 92 all game long. |

Mark Buerhle seems to do good with a mid 80's fastball. |

I agree. He can still suck. It was the Royals in a meaningless late September game. Still, like you, I saw those late breakers and was impressed. He fooled the shit out of alot of those Royals. Nobody had a book on him nor has anyone seen him. I know. He did give me some hope however. |

That's adrenaline and excitement. If he does in the future, I would say he needs to settle down. |

i give him a pass. he's a young kid fighting for a job next year. i dont blame him for that. now, if its next may and the sox are in 2nd place and his fist pumping against the royals (unless he gets out of a bases loaded 0 out jam or somesuch) A. i dont think he'll do it, and B. ozzie will let him know when to do that kind of shit |

I was hoping some of our other guys would get shut down early too and we could get better looks at a Broadway, Phillips, hell why not even bring up Gio |

Everybody like Gio Gonzalez. If both these kids are good we've got something next year. Here is a thought, if we think Brodway and Gonzo have a chance to be something special--why not use them in the pen in 08. Your rotation looks close to solid,even if Garland gets moved. The Red Sox did it with Pappelbon and the Yanks are doing it with Chamberlin. In fact, Cotts was supposed to be a starter and they caught lighting in a bottle and turned it into a world series title. If you can only find 2 solid relivers in the offseason, turn one of these young guys into a reliever. I never understand why teams seem to treat the bullpen as an afterthought. In today's game, it is just as important as starting pitching. |
