... at the end of the Padres-Rockies one-game playoff: 1. If it was A.J. Pierzynski behind the plate, he would have picked up that ball & tagged Holliday -- even if he thought Holliday touched the plate. A.J. would never have just let it go like Barrett did. Even if he thought Holliday scored, he would have tagged him to try to psych out the umpire. 2. If A.J. was the runner, he would have reached out & slapped home plate, just as he did in that memorable encounter with Barrett during the Sox-Cubs series. Barrett and Holliday both blew it, but it came out in Holliday's & the Rockies' favor. Of the two, I guess Holliday might have more of an excuse since he looked like he was almost knocked out on the play. |
