The Sox have out homered their opposition 24-5 so far this season. Real impressive considering 9 games against the Tigers and Indians. That pace obviously isn't going to last, but if the starters can keep the ball in the park at a *reasonable* rate and the offense continues to take walks the Sox will be the team to beat in that division.

That really is an impressive ratio. The 5 homers allowed by Sox pitching is more amazing than the 24 we've hit.

Indeed. That is definetly a stat that the pitching staff can be proud of.

I have no idea what the historical perspective that puts the Sox starting five in, but if someone were kind enough to look it up, I'd be very curious to see where they fit in. That does sound like a huge disparity and something rather noteworthy.

Well, for the first 16 games that has to be right up there for the modern era of baseball.

For any era actually. Cuz if you figure the early part of the 1900's, few homers were hit so obviously few were given up. Ratios for the first 16 games would be like 3-1 or maybe 5-0 would be considered amazing back then.

I'm sure they won't keep up this 24-5 pace.

If they do keep it up, that would be proof God is a Sox fan.

That's the only thing you worry about when you see a differential or any out-of-whack stat like that; you hope the team keeps on winning when they return to earth. Obviously you're happy to take the streak though.
