Why do the Sox continue dumbass shit, while their defense sucks and they can't hit? Today the story broke about them taking blow up sex dolls into the club house and puting their bats around them to change their luck. This team is really acting like a bunch of high schoolers. They need to start taking shit serious.

Where did you see this story? Please post the link.

If it is true

I am all for whatever Slumpbuster method you need, but I would agree that knowing you are Major League team you might think twice about this one just to even avoid the 'female blow up advocate groups' that might show up at your place of employment.

Bernsie and Goff brought this up.

Bernsie said some Toronto newspaper reported this.

This is different than the yellow beards. It's stupid. You're pro ball players. Can't do this shit. Women groups will go nuts. Reinsdorf wouldn't like it either. He'll put a stop to it.

You mean they don't produce hits?

It probably depends. I don't think an air and rubber doll would work very well. One of these things? Hmmm....

Come on man... you can't be serious? Who cares what these guys do in the dugout, locker room, or anywhere else for that matter? You think shit like this is new? Baseball players are nothing more than overpaid college kids who make a living by entertaining the rest of America with stuff similar to this story. I hardly believe that this type of attitude is detrimental to the team's focus overall.

I believe Bernstein predicted that this would be column fodder for Carol Slezak.

Yesterday, Bernstein predicted a slezak column on the subject in today's paper. He was correct.

While it seems childish & immature, there are more serious issues on the field that the White Sox need to address besides the doll controversy. If Juan Uribe has played his last game for the Sox, as I read in the paper today, who will take over at second base? I know Alexei Ramirez should be available, but Danny Richar is about a month away. What about the awful base running & lack of offensive execution that the Sox displayed on that rotten FieldTurf in Toronto & in Minnesota' glorified pool room? Will the Sox wise up and call up Jerry Owens?

Yes he did, and he even said the Sun-Times may make it one of their strange front page stories. Slezak really needs to be let go. I don't think she has ever written a solid column.

I'll say this. I hope none of the Sox players banged the doll after Crede banged it.

He's three for three; as he said last week water will be wet!

For once, I'm finding myself agreeing wtih Dan; as baseball players are a bunch of adolescent kids in men's bodies. It was meant as a joke; a bad one, but a joke nonetheless.

Slezak and the rest shouldn't be so quick to judge.

_______________

Agree 100%. I'm so tired in this PC world that some group started years ago. I would say who, but I'd get attack. I use to live in South Holland and on the water tower there's 2 hands clasped together. Everybody knew they meant "Praying Hands". Tons of all Faith Churches in So. Holland. One atheist from Zion drove by, didn't like it. It offended him and wanted the village to paint over it. That's when we changed it to clasp hands.
Happens all over the country with bullcrap like this. Horse breaks ankles in Derby. Suspend the jockey, ban horse racing by Peda ??? spelling. Point is, the USA is becoming like France. No guts. Pretty soon we won't be able to say anything in public because it might hurt someone's feelings. But it's okay to cuss on TV, movies, music etc

You're right. It doesn't matter. It doesn't make them win or lose. I'm fine when it's yellow beards or innocent stuff like that.

But these players have to realize that there are Slezack's out there that will be "outraged" if just to have some material for a column

Baseball is a multimillion dollar industry. You can't do shit like this. In the 1960's and 1970's it was fine. Not now. The players should know this.

Since it doesn't matter they shouldn't do it.

Something tells me that baseball's revenue will not be effected much, if at all, by this stunt. And frankly, if Slezack didn't write a column about this, she would find something else to bitch about. This is a non-issue that became an issue (as always) because of a few people with clout who have no sense of humor.

Bring the dolls back to Toronto so the bats will come alive again!

Either that, or sacrifice a live chicken.
