Ok, sorry to start another Ozzie tirade thread here, but I dont get it. I dont understand what he said that wasnt true and that was so offensive. 1.)This team sucks at hitting, and I assume the fans are sick and tired of it too. I dont think thats an outrageous statement at all. Changes should be made, the lineup looks awful. 2.)I dont think he threw Kenny under the bus. I think he said Kenny needs to make changes or I will. I dont think thats an outrageous statement either. Like I said, changes should be made. They are wasting way too many great pitching performances. 3.)The only part I thought was unfair, or maybe not unfair but unnecessary to say in public, was throwing Walker under the bus, and thats the only part I dont hear analysts complaining about. Maybe Walker isnt doing a good job, maybe its the hitters and not his fault, I dont really know, but if Ozzie has a problem with Greg he needs to talk to him or Kenny about it. I've been accused of being an Ozzie apologist before but I dont understand why everyone is saying this is "the last straw" for Ozzie as manager of the Sox. |

CUBS SUCK!!!1 The team is in first place. Ozzie is not going anywhere just yet. Good pitching > Good hitting, and the Sox, so far, have had excellent pitching just about all year. |

I said this in another thread yesterday. I don't think he was calling out Kenny. Some might have taken it that way. He said "I expect Kenny to make changes." He was just saying the players aren't performing like they should so we need to make changes. He was just calling out his players. That's all. It's no big deal. I know Ozzie likes and respects Kenny. |

Just go look up some Aug-Sep 2005 threads on this board. All they need is a couple minor tweaks. The pitching is almost 2005 good. |

Ozzie sounded like a very frustrated manager, and you would be as well if your team got only 3 runs, 13 hits & 10 left on base in a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to the Rays in Tampa in 10 innings. This isn't a quick team by any means, and there are guys on this roster that are earning a lot of money. Unless the White Sox literally eat the $10+ million contracts of Paul Konerko (BA .205) & Jim Thome (BA .212), it'll be very difficult to trade both of these guys for example. There's also very little down on the farm for which the Sox can part company with at this time. I suggested this in another thread, and I must suggest it again. Second baseman Alexei Ramirez, who I think is the fastest guy on the current roster, should be leading off despite a batting average of .255. To me, you need a guy who can not only get on base, but a guy with speed to boot at the top of the lineup. I think Ramirez can do it, and given the lack of production in the rest of this lineup, I don't think the Sox have anything to lose by putting the fastest guy at the top. I believe it starts there... |

With Lance Broadway appearing to be ready to make the jump to the bigs as well. |

I remember a certain manager on the North Side last year who said something to the effect of "If I could get some guys who can catch the ball" or something like that after the first ejection he had last year. Kind of the same thing. I think Oz didn't do himself any favors calling out Walk though. He should always support his LT's. |

This? http://www.chicagoreader.com/features/s ... ts/070420/ Quote: “This is your ace,” the notoriously mercurial Piniella said. “You got a five-nothing lead with the eighth and ninth hitters coming up. You feel pretty good about that inning. And all of a sudden it turns into a six-run inning. What do I do? I just pitch him when it’s his turn. What else can I do?
“And then I bring in a reliever who’s throwing 30-, 40-foot curveballs to boot,” he continued, referring to Will Ohman, who replaced Zambrano only to throw eight balls in nine pitches, walking in the tying and go-ahead runs with the bases loaded. |

It's also an excuse for Cubs fans to say "Ozzie is a media whore! He's jealous of the Cubs! The Cubs are in first place and Ozzie hates the attention they are getting!" |

I thought one of the interesting things noone is talking about was one of the last sentences, "Im not protecting anyone anymore." One of Ozzie's strengths has always been to keep the attention on him and he usually doesnt ever call out the players. I think he's growing tired of that strategy not changing any of the results of the team. I agree Shark, I would leadoff Ramirez the way he has been playing lately and considering he is the fastest player on the team and this team cant run to save their life. |

So Favrefan and Beardown don't think it was calling Kenny out and throwing him under the Bus? Funny, Kenny thinks it is. when he said "It's not a good idea to throw your boss under the bus..." So are you wrong or is Kenny wrong? |

All he said is Kenny needs to make some changes. Can you tell me how thats not true bigfan? He was moreso throwing the players under the bus without mentioning names. I think KW did a good job this offseason. |

Mariotti... always good for a laugh. Insinuates in today's column firing Ozzie would be beneficial to getting the 2016 olympics in this city. |

From the master of hyperbole himself. Jay Mariotti wrote: Forget about those old Al Capone and Hog Butcher to the World references. What this city must expunge, as it attempts to win the 2016 Olympics and polish its image for the world, is the embarrassing cloud of stench accumulated by the Blizzard of Oz with his relentlessly profane attacks on human life around him.

Someone should tell Jay that the olympics are in motherfucking China this summer- not exactly the most humane of governments/countries. |

Funny, Kenny thinks it is. when he said "It's not a good idea to throw your boss under the bus..." So are you wrong or is Kenny wrong? Kenny is wrong. He reacted too quickly when Joe Cowley called him. Everything will be fine today. Kenny and Ozzie will meet the media today. They'll laugh at this and move on like they always do when Ozzie says stuff. Sox will sweep the Royals. Offense will play well. It will be happy town again. For a while. |

I didn't see Ozzie calling out Walk. I figured he was bemoaning the offense in general and the two people responsible for the offense are Ozzie and Walk. Simple as that. |

Don't get out over your skis with Grienke pitching tonight. |

Tonights game is big. Definitely the toughest pitching matchup. We gotta take two out of three from the Royals. |
