I don't know what the hell to expect from this team anymore, except frustration.

Expect streaks, both good and bad.

I'm not expecting a sweep vs. Pittsburgh given their current streak they are on.

You also expected 5-1 on the home stand, as I remember. I very much doubt the sox will sweep this series. The sox get a favorable match-up in game one-on paper , with Vasquez facing Ian Snell. Snell has an ERA just under 6. BUT, he has given up just one run in each of his last two starts. Plus, with that Pirate outfield, featuring Nate McLouth, Xavier Nady and Jason Bay, this Pirate team has some talented hitters. They will also face Tom Gorzelanny in this series, who has been pretty mediocre. But then again, thats a description given to many pitchers the sox have losing to of late.

Sorry Beardown. But dont worry, after the 2 series' where the Cubs/Sox face each other, I dont intend to continue posting here too. It's a counter-productive use of time to be on these boards so much. But I can't stop before they play each other. This is the time of year for the smack to come out in full force, after all. There,-now I have written 2 paragraphs, so your request that I not write A paragraph on this thread was indeed granted.

The Pirates are better than you think they are.
It's hard to expect a sweep.
I'm hearing Konerko might be out a couple weeks too..

Could be addition by subtraction. Thome, Konerko, Swisher- overall still aren't doing shit.

2 out of 3 should be the goal, and is Konerko being out for a few weeks really a bad thing? If he does have a bone bruise issue and now his most recent issue, take a few weeks off, and come back healthy. Right now, he's brutal.

They lose one of them (thome or paulie), basically, for the 6 games next week anyway at NL parks. So bring up Owens or something and who knows, maybe we cuold see the Sox steal a base! What a novel concept!

Paul Konerko was a late scratch from the lineup yesterday, and his oblique might land him on the disabled list before tomorrow night's opener vs. Pittsburgh. If that's the case, we may finally see the return of Jerry Owens from Triple "A" Charlotte, with Nick Swisher taking care of the workload at first. This is especially true, as the White Sox head 8.1 miles north this weekend to face the Cubs, and no Designated Hitter in sight!

Shark-You could have taken the last 5 words of your posting and removed the word Designated, and it would have been spot on.

If the Sox lose a series or Jesus Christ, get swept by them, I have no faith they can do anything but make me want to kill a bunch of Cubs fans come this weekend; because I know those bastages are gonna lose to them. Or maybe losing a series to the Pirates will fire them up, I have no idea.

Hell yeah. 10 runs in 6 innings. It's crazy how hit or miss this offense is. I'm with Ozzie saying he'd prefer 5 runs every day instead of 10 runs every other day, but when they are on it's cool to see. Great job helping out Javier tonight.

I agree man. I feel bad for the guy. He always seems to lose 2-1 games and things like that. So many times I'll flip on a Sox game halfway through it and they'll be losing like 1-0 in the 6th with him pitching. I think we have a solid foundation going forward with him and Floyd though.

Tomorrows game should be interesting. The Buc's will send Tom Gorzelanny to the hill against Buerhle. Gorzelanny is originally from Evergreen Park, and pitched for Triton J.C. before getting drafted by the Pirates. The Lefty has NEVER faced the sox before, so most of the sox hitters will be unfamiliar with him. He is 5-5 on the year, despite having an unimpressive ERA. How do the sox generally fare against pitchers they are unfamiliar with?

You asked for a comment, so here it is. Just as was the case in the Royals series, they got to face a lesser pitcher and then middle relief pitchers that are very mediocre. The sox have hitters who do quite well against mediocre pitching.

I called him out on that in the Cubs Rays thread, and he just glossed over it there too.

IIRC, from watching the Cubs from 2002 to present, they don't fare well against pitchers they haven't seen either.

Great win. Little too long-bally, but I will take a win and what a win it was.

Dumb question, how about DHing Toby Hall every now and again? I like the cut of his jib.

WHITE SOX END THE WAIT.............oops.
