He's settled on one. "That ball's hit deep. It's going...going...going...gone." Took him 9 fucking years. It's not that great. He's not a play by play guy and he doesn't have good pipes. But it's better than "Uh oh!!!!" |

Yeah. It really is amazing that he didn't come up with one after his first year. 9 years it took him. He does 3 innings a game. You'd think he'd put some thought into it after his first year. For 9 years it's been the awkward, confused, scared calls. Never the same call for too long. I'm convinced sometimes he was spontaneously coming up with crap as the home run was occurring. Actually, with this new "going...going...going" call it seems like he's tentative. I think he knows he sounds like a jack ass but he's also happy that he has something. |

I dunno why he doesn't just say "way way back...and its a home run!" |

Good point Frank. If you're not a good play by play guy and don't have a good voice you should keep it simple. This "going" shit does bring more attention to him. Like I said, I think he is uncomfortable with it. Keep it simple stupid. |

well i'd like to ask a stupid question; since obviously i don't watch or follow as much sox stuff...what happened to "you can put it on the board!" and why is DJ the play-by-play guy now if that's the case? |

IF DJ is calling the inning(s), he calls the HR. These are typically the middle inning(s). Early and late in the game, you can still put it on the board. |

Hawk always does the 1st 3 inning. DJ always the middle 3. Hawk will do the last 3 unless the Sox are getting blown out and/or he's mad. Then he makes DJ do it. |

i guess i'm just tuning it at the wrong times... what is it about the sox broadcasters and not having a definitive play-by-play and color guy? what's with the sharing, what is that... or maybe i should just stay out of white sox business. |

Hawk will do the last 3 unless the Sox are getting blown out and/or he's mad. Then he makes DJ do it. That's just hilarious. I wonder how DJ feels in those situations |

That's just hilarious. I wonder how DJ feels in those situations DJ accepted being Hawk's bitch a long time ago. DJ wants to stay employed. That's all DJ cares about. I'm sure if he gets out of line Hawk says to him "I got rid of wimpy and I'll do the same to you. Yessss!!!" |

I wish it was a more original home run call. Before he joined ESPN's "Baseball Tonight" this season, Chris Singleton's home run call on the White Sox Radio Network was "Touch 'em all." Chris seemed to lack delivery when he said it though. He didn't sound that enthusiastic when he called homers... |

There is nothing to DJ. He has absolutely no personality. I doubt he has a soul. He's just a talking head. He's empty. He avoids anything controversial. Everything is just great in DJ's mind. Everybody is wonderful. It's happy time all the time for DJ. People like that scare me. Check out when Hawk and DJ introduce a game at 7pm. Hawk will say something and send it to DJ. Look into DJ's eyes. It's emptiness. No life to him at all. There is nothing there. It's like looking at the eyes of a shark. Dull and lifeless. |

Teddy G's thoughts on Williams: Quote: His partner, Jackson, is underappreciated. He speaks with authority, he's funny and he's never annoying.
Is he actually watching/listening to the same guy? |

It has been brought up on several occasions in the past here, but DJ actually does a very good job on Fox's national broadcasts when he's not with Hawk's overbearing (or dead silent) presence. |

Agreed Stink, but he still isn't all that authoritative on Fox either. |

True, he's just an ex-jock who can put the occasional coherent thought together for Fox, but that is a step up from his work on Comcast/GN/CIU. |

or maybe i should just stay out of white sox business. I don't know. I never got why Singleton would call PBP for a few innings and Farmer would then shift from calling to analyzing. What was the point of going from one unqualified lead man to an even less qualified lead man? You're right, though, it's best just to stay out of White Sox business. |
