White Sox fans, it may not seem like much, but DeWayne Wise may actually be building a case to stay on the big league roster once Paul Konerko recovers from his oblique injury. Wise is 5-for-12 since getting the callback from Triple "A" Charlotte last week and was 3-for-6 with a two-run homer & a stolen base in Game 2 of the Cubs' three-game series train wreck at Wrigley Saturday afternoon. He'll likely be in the lineup tonight vs. Derek Lowe and the Dodgers in Los Angeles, but may be sitting tomorrow and Thursday as Joe Torre assigns lefties Eric Stultz & Clayton Kershaw in the last 2 games of this Interleague Series. Given the fact DeWayne is actually producing right now in what is supposed to a platoon with Brian Anderson in center field, plus Jerry Owens is injured again for the Knights, what do the Sox do once Konerko is fully healthy? If they let Wise go again, I have a feeling this guy will be claimed by another team via waivers. As the Sox are structured right now, I'm not so sure they can win this sorry division called the American League Central... |
