Cowley's column today talked about trade talks with Uribe involved heating up. Buster Olney's blog today references Cowley's column and says "The trade talks for Juan Uribe have been heating up. With the Orioles looking for a shortstop, you connect the dots …" Obviously Kenny would have to do this soon if he wants to keep Wise up, and to clear a roster spot for Konerko to come back. Whoever they can get for Uribe would be going to the minors, I would guess Kenny would try to get a pitcher or speed middle infielder/centerfielder back. |

This would leave only Ozuna as a backup infielder. While a trade could be likely, it would still mean that Wise or Anderson is going to Charlotte. |

I don't care what Ed Farmer says! Juan Uribe is on borrowed time with the White Sox, and I think he's the odd man out once Paul Konerko is ready to return from his oblique injury. The sooner #5 packs his bags and gets out of here, the better! Since Alexei Ramirez replaced him in Anaheim, #10 has been a defensive wizard at second base, making the kinds of plays Uribe couldn't, plus has made a lot of progress in his batting in a short amount of time. While everyone still believes that Ramirez will shift over to shortstop next season, I'd be inclined to keep Alexei right where he is now and take a long, hard look at #1 pick Gordon Beckham in spring training. The buzz is that Beckham may actually be MLB ready now to play! As for Pablo Ozuna & DeWayne Wise, they seem to have something that Uribe also lacks...Speed! |

If Dye is still in MLB by 2010, he'll be a full time DH. Maybe a spot start here and there in RF or at 1B. |

Do not forget about Jordan Danks. He is a middle infielder as well who would have gone much higher than the 7th round if Boras hadn't scared everyone away. |

Uribe is still one of the best defensive middle infielders in the AL, regardless of how bad he is at the plate. I would think that they can get a very promising prospect or two for him from a team like KC, or maybe even the Yankees. |

Jordan Danks is an outfielder and Boris isn't the only reason teams were scared off. He was projected out of high school to be a big-time power hitter but he hit only 9 in two and a half years at Texas. |

The market isn't too great for a fat middle infielder that will hit for occasional power. |

I know he's not a middle infielder, but tell that to Miggy Cabrera |

Even in the BAD year, he's hitting .280 with an .800 OPS. Uribe's best year is .283 AVG, .830 OPS and 23 HRs. |

That stuff about #1 pick Gordon Beckham being MLB ready to play right now appears to be a stretch, but that's what I heard the other day. As for Juan Uribe and the likelihood of him being dealt, the reality of it is the White Sox won't get much for him on the trade market as it appears to be a numbers game. I think the Sox might get the "Player to Be Named" and eat Uribe's salary. The Sox really seem to like DeWayne Wise, even though he's done very little sporting different uniforms. They don't want to send this guy back to Triple "A" Charlotte and run the risk of having him claimed by another team that might also be a potential playoff contender. It might be a "Wise" move to keep him on board. |

Dye is only under contract through next season Frank, with a mutual option for 2010. Paul Konerko signed a 5 year deal after the World Series Championship - so he's under contract through 2010. I could care less if I woke up tomorrow and found out Konerko and Thome were outright released (which won't happen).... |

Why would ANYBODY want Uribe, who's a free agent after this season? If the Sox trade him, they'll be lucky to get a pickle jar full of rosin for him. |

Uribe is the odd man out once Konerko comes back from his oblique injury, but Chris Rongey raised an interesting point on the "SCORE"/White Sox Radio postgame show last night. If DeWayne Wise stays up with the Sox, it'll leave Pablo Ozuna as the only reserve infielder on the roster should Uribe get dealt & if any of the other infielders gets injured. There is a risk involved if Wise gets waived again. There's a chance DeWayne could resurface with a potential playoff contender if he gets claimed this time. Also, I'll be interested to see how Konerko will be blended in again with Nick Swisher playing a solid first base in his absence. I could actually see Konerko getting a great deal of Jim Thome's at-bats down the stretch as the Designated Hitter instead of at first base and Thome losing playing time. It'll be interesting to say the least how the Sox will look once Paul comes back and who could be squeezed... |
