Game 1: This is the 3rd tough pitcher in a row the Sox will be facing. Actually, it could be argued, the Sox have faced the 3 toughest pitchers, in the AL, in a row.

Tonight it's Duchscherer. He might be the best pitcher in baseball. He's got a 1.91 ERA. He's 8-5. Must have the luck that Danks has.

Vazquez is going for the Sox. You gotta figure we lose this game but we just beat Lee and Sabathia back to back so why not the triple crown?

Yeah I dont trust Vazquez lately. To quote the scholar Frank Costanza "Vazquez has pitched like an asshole for the better part of a month now." We might need the long ball tonight.

Javier Vazquez was wild in June, going 2-2 with a high 7.61 ERA. He says his mechanics were a problem and plans on using less motion with his arms and keeping closer to his body. The Sox certainly need a quality start from #33 tonight with the bullpen a tad shorthanded in the wake of Bobby Jenks' stiff back and the bullpen a little worn out of late.

I just think law of averages. They just won two games facing great starters. Now they have to beat another great starter for 3 in a row.

Very good start so far. Javy looked good in the top of the first, and Wise continues to impress with a lead-off HR.

GOt the long ball, hopefully Javy proves us wrong for 6 more innings.

He looked fantastic the first couple innings but we've seen that movie before too.

Fuckin Javy. Off to his best start of the year before that tying 2 run shot.

Duchscherer has really settled in after the 1st. Hopefully, Javy can settle back down, and at least pitch into the 8th or so tonight.

This is the first time I have seen Duchscherer pitch, he is very impressive.

Javier Vazquez gave the White Sox bullpen a much needed breather by going the distance tonight vs. Oakland, but the Sox offense disappeared after scoring 2 runs in the very 1st inning. He deserved a better fate than his 7th loss of the season, and a complete game at that!

Except they didn't beat Lee. Lee did not figure into the decision, as he left when the game was tied 2-2 (another game they struggled to hit a lefty) but they did beat Sabbathia for the 2nd time this year (with 1 loss against him as well) So now against the three quality pitchers they faced, they truely went 1W 1L 1ND. To say that you beat a quality starter, you have to beat him. Not beat his bullpen.

I'm aware of that Steve. Just saying they came out with a win vs a tough pitcher. I know Lee pitched well. That goes without saying.

Didn't you say that you were not going to post in the Sox forum after the Cubs/Sox games were finished ?

Post subject:  Re: Sox vs A's

The Athletics found ways to get guys on base in the first 2 games of this series, and manufactured ways to score besides Jack Cust smacking 2-run homers in consecutive games vs. Javier Vazquez last night & Mark Buehrle tonight. For a team that was having trouble scoring runs before arriving at U.S. Cellular Field, and had injuries to guys like Eric Chavez, Bubba Crosby & others, the green-shirted A's seem to remind us of a certain team of "piranhas" that's now 1 game out in the A.L. Central and beat up the Cleveland Indians like government mules at the Metrodome. Yeah, the A's remind me of the Minnesota Twins in their execution...

Post subject:  Re: Sox vs A's

Yeah, the "piranhas" are nipping at their heels, just a game out. With Detroit also not far behind, its getting very interesting. Losing 2 in a row at home, thats pretty disappointing. Tonight they get Smith, who is just 5-6, but has a sparkling 3.44 ERA. He just went 9 innings against the Angels his last time out, giving up just 1 run on 4 hits. Oh, and he is a lefty too. Just in case you didnt hear, the Cubs won in St Louis 2-1 and increased their lead in the N.L. Central to 3.5 games ahead of the Cardinals.

if the same people who were tired of steve's antics before this ignore feature was introduced STILL haven't put him on there now that it IS a feature, i can't really say anything except...WHY? you're clearly wanting to hear meatball reactions and opinions if you haven't done this yet. i award you no points and may god have mercy on your souls.

It's the same as all the people who hated Mike North's show, yet listened every single day. My best explanation is that some people just love to piss and moan about stuff.
