We have to give him credit for Carlos ,Danks and Floyd etc..but doesn't he also get some heat for Contreras and Konerkos contracts? |

Konerko was re-signed at the end of 2005 coming off of a 40 HR 100 RBI season with a World Series. 5 years at 12 million a season was a sweet deal at that point. In 2006 he hit .313 with 113 so he was even better. I'd fault Kenny for not trading him when his value was higher and before he had the 5-10 veto power, but signing him to the contract was fine. Contreras signed an extension in April of 06 preventing him from pitching in 06 under the last year of his previous contract after he had a 15-7 3.41 season with a WS. 3 years at 29 million for a mediocre but durable pitcher (30+ starts the last 4 years) isn't a terrible deal. It's not a great deal, but you don't need everybody on your roster making exactly what they deserve to win a WS, in fact I doubt any team that paid everybody on their roster exactly what they were worth would win a WS. |
