White Sox placed RHP Jose Contreras on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 18, with right elbow tendinitis.

Contreras was supposed to pitch Tuesday, but it looks like he's now admitting that he's been pitching hurt for some time. Nick Masset could come out of the pen to start in his place. Triple-A Charlotte's Lance Broadway is another possibility.

I'd like to see Broadway get his chance. Hopefully this is the beginnng of the end for Contreras.

I'd prefer they give Broadway the first chance mainly because Masset isn't stretched out, and they would probably only use for him for 3-4 innings.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Clayton Richard, a lefty, will likely get the call-up before tonight's game vs. Texas. He's 6-0 with a 2.37 ERA for Triple "A" Charlotte. As for Lance Broadway, he's 8-6 with a 4.48 ERA for the Sox Triple "A" affiliate. As for the here & now, Nick Masset will get the spot start tomorrow night in place of Jose Contreras, whose elbow injury caught me off guard.

This is the kid that started the futures game. Don't know much about him but he's a big sum bitch (6'5" 240). Is he going to the bullpen or is he going to take Contrares' next start on Sunday?

It looks like Richard is going to get the start tomorrow night instead of Massett. I'm a little surprised Broadway got passed over again but the Sox obviously see more upside in this Clayton Richard guy. Hopefully Texas isn't very good against pitchers they've never seen before.

Actually, Masset gets the spot start tomorrow vs. Texas, but Clayton Richard might be on track to start the Sunday roadie in Detroit. To paraphrase former White Sox pre & postgame radio host & current Rays' voice Dave Wills, "Good luck. We're all counting on you."

I wouldn't say my bubble is burst, I'm not overly optimistic over any of the choices.

Thats not really paraphrasing anything, and that line was originally said by Leslie Nielson in a 70s movie.

I am more interested in "Chicago Sports Fan" SHARK's writing style. Very unique.
