One more thing you guys can tell "Your guy", it is true the Cubs did not play the Red Sox and the Yankees this year as he paints out once a week, but if I am not mistaken they played the team that had and has the best record in the divsion? The Rays?

At least Stoney is fitting in nicely with the Sox organizational philosophy of comparing everything to the Cubs and Cubs fans. Didn't think Stoney had the bitterness in him, but he sure shows it.

I agree BF, Stone has developed nicely into the white sox mind frame of "compare everything to the Cubs", even though they dont even play in the same league. If you really want to see how thin skinned the guy has become, go to stevestone.com and see some of his replies to questions that dont kiss his ass.

I have always said this, Stone is overrated in every aspect of his career, his pitching career, one great year and his broadcasting career to me has never been that impressive, he says he first guesses, no, he second guesses, but no one ever calls him out on it.

Stone is so great that ESPN didnt even bring him back last year, but they wanted singlo.....I think that speaks for itself.

Not sure if Stone has done the turnabout because of his disdain for the Cubs or his friendship to Reinsdorf, but I still don't like it when he says "We". Just don't feel he is a Sox guy.

Grew up in this city with Stone doing Cubs game. Still feel more comfortable hearing Paciorek doing a Sox game than Stone.

Bigfan are you ok? Very odd post. As of this writing, the Sox are doing a little better against the $56M Twins than the Cubs are against the $70M Brewers.

For the record, I never "called" for that, I dont want a journeyman pitcher who had one good season running a team, but thats just me.

Stone was out of work, except for a two or three day a week, 20 minute spot on the score, he took a job. If any team called him, he would have taken a job, sox just called first and wouldnt have if singlo would have stayed.

One thing I hate about Stone is this notion that he predicts everything correctly. Yeah, he gets some right and we always fuckin' here them as "Promos" on the Score.

He'll say "A curve ball in the dirt will get him." And it happens.

Shit, I sit at home and predict things correctly sometimes. We all do it. It's no big deal. Sometimes Stone will say "A slider here will get him" and the guy hits the slider out of the park.

My point is, if you guess enough you're gonna get some right. We all can predict shit. But he's wrong sometimes too. They never play "promos" on the shit he gets wrong.

I just don't like how - since he left the Cubs - he's become this "Baseball God."

He never was thought of that way in the 1980s and 90s with the Cubs. Not as a "God." He was just the guy that did the Cubs games. Now, he's reached this laughable god-like status.

I think he's a decent announcer. But that's all he is. A fuckin' baseball announcer. I think he's worshiped way too much. The Score is partly responsible. The hosts at the Score lick his ass.

The score PR machine put "Baseball God Stone" in motion when they hired him, but Stone is quickly becoming "Radio Ditka", he isnt offering anything right now that people dont know and all Stone is doing now, is repeating himself week after week.

I think people liked Stone more in the 80s and 90s when all he did was the games. We really didn't know anything else about his personality. He was slightly sarcastic on the air but it was basically calling the games.

Since he's gotten this "talk show host" role at the Score we see what a dick Stone is. Stone has one love in his life. Himself.

Stone is working off of SInglos contract this year, it will be a different story when he goes for a contract of his own and if the score keeps pace with the way they like to under pay their announcers, Stone will be one and done when it comes to calling Sox games IMO.

You didn't read that article by Teddy Greenstein, Rodeo. This is DJ's last year of his contract. It sounded, in that article, that DJ is gonna be gone and Stone will replace him on TV.

I think Stone will only be back if it's TV money. TV money is much more than the radio money.

I saw it, I just didnt buy into it, because Hawk and Stones ego's wont be able to make it work. I personally dont care if Stone stays with the White Sox or not, it doesnt matter to me, but I would bet if he had to choose between a broadcast job with the White Sox or a front office job (I hope this doesnt happen) with the Cubs, he would all of sudden find that Cub love again. But thats Stone and because of that, I wouldnt trust that guy as far as I could throw him.

I like DJ, even more when he was doing national games, he will do well once he gets away from Hawk.

I'm just glad the Sox booth is listenable now.

If you like them Frank, thats great, but IMO, I dont know how anyone could take Farmer for more then two innings. I think Stone is solid, just not the best they ever was, but for sure better then Farmer.

Stone is decent. Farmer is still bad. That hasn't changed with Stone there like some have suggested.

Farmer tries to always one-up Stone. He tries to give his thoughts before Stone can comment on a play. He sees Stone as a threat to him. He wants to prove that he knows stuff. That's not his job. He's the "play-by-play" guy. He should let Stone comment more and just call the game. Farmer can't do that. He just can't. He has to prove that he knows stuff too. It's like he doesn't want to give Stone all of the glory.

I agree with this 100%.

Farmer aggrevates me when he refuses to set up a play that he knows is going to end poorly for the Sox. HR balls, in particular: "long fly ball, the score is 5-2" followed by 8 seconds of cheering or whatever, at which point Stone jumps in, or Farmer goes, "ya know, he really got all of that one" or "he left that change-up right over the plate." He needs to fill in those gaps better and not throw such a pissy fit.

He doesn't paint a particularly effective picture of the opponents' outfield on Sox home runs either. Folks, this has got a chance, this is gonna go. Two run home run for ____. I like to know what outfielders are up to. Some of these homers clear the park just above the fence and it would be great to know if/how did the outfielders move and try to track the ball, leap to catch it, etc. If we are lucky Stone will chime in with picture, but more often than not he would chime in with a discussion of the implications of the hit on the game or pitcher's miscalculation that lead to HR.
