White Sox fans, this seems like a broken record, but the time has come for Ozzie Guillen to stop being stubborn and bench struggling first baseman Paul Konerko right now. Yeah, he makes over $10 million a season, but Konerko looks just terrible at the plate & has been awful in the field. While stats seem to show the Sox are a better team with Konerko at first & Nick Swisher in the outfield, I think you can throw them out the window now with the Southsiders in danger of dropping out of first place in the A.L. Central by the time they leave Minnesota Thursday night. I would have no problem, Sox fans, seeing Swisher at first base & either Brian Anderson or DeWayne Wise in center field for the forseeable future...

Stay the course. I simply cannot believe Konerko can be this bad over an entire season.

Personally, love me some Paulie, but, he needs to grab some pine.

Guillen mentioned in the postgame that Konerko may get some time off to rest his mind.

In other words, he may have been benched - more DWise/Anderson in CF.

While Ozzie said something about Konerko needing rest, he didn't exactly give a ringing endorsement to either Brian Anderson or DeWayne Wise in center field. He sounds awfully stubborn and convinced that Konerko's going to break out of this funk, but I'm starting to think that Konerko's best days are well behind him. He's really pressing and trying way too hard.

Bail on him. People were saying months ago "he can't keep being this bad." Well he has been. Months wasted where you could have been doing something else. Konerko hasn't had a month where he's hit over .250 since last July. That's one full year of suck.

I wouldn't be overly excited about playing Brian Anderson or DeWayne Wise more either, but the fact is, worse case, the defense improved, and maybe these guys can hit .250ish, which is better than what Konerko has been doing.

Yep, he's been pretty bad since last season, but he'll keep getting chances to right himself, considering that he's under contract at $12 million a season for 2 more seasons after this.
