I'm a die hard Sox fan but this entire year has been difficult to watch for me on a game to game basis. I take losses pretty hard until the next game and don't even like reading sports or listening to radio when they do lose because it pisses me off so bad. Hell, there's many times I find myself watching more of Cubs games when they're on at the same time because I get TOO worked up and annoyed when watching the Sox because I get too into it. I can enjoy watching the Cubs because if they win it's fun and interesting and if they lose it's fun and interesting. I can't lose or be disappointed when watching the Cubs. I'm too invested in the Sox and can't do it much of the time.

I love the Griffey deal and not because it makes the most baseball sense in the world, but because he's one of my 5 favorite players the last 15 years and I'm happy to have him on my team finally even though he's past his prime. It's a nice side show and getaway from watching the lumbering and depressing Paul Konerko ground to the shortstop (and put his head down to pout before jogging to first) for his 1,352nd double play of the season day after day after day. Much like when Bo Jackson came to the South Side, I'm just going to enjoy watching one of the sweetest swing in the history of baseball taken almost every game for 4 at bats and in a Sox uniform.

No matter what ends up happening this season, his arrival will allow me to enjoy this team quite a bit more and relieve a great deal of my Sox Angst.

when I first read this post title, I wanted to post on the Griffey Deal-A-Fan event...I fear my picture of Ken as a wheeling and dealing Fan GM was misinformed...

I've enjoyed my Griffey Deal-A-Fan almost as much as my Simmons Deal-A-Meal.
