In the wake of this weekend's disaster at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, I think a roster move or two is in the cards for the White Sox as they return home to host the Tigers, Red Sox & Royals starting tomorrow. It's become painfully obvious that the Sox will have to make a move or two as the Sox begin a 10 game homestand in hopes of retaking first place in the A.L. Central. With the onetime subject of ESPN's "Outside the Lines", Jose Contreras, likely to return this weekend vs. the World Champion Red Sox, it appears as if lefty Clayton Richard will be optioned back to Triple "A" Charlotte. He's not the only one that I think deserves a bus ticket back to Charlotte. What has happened to Boone Logan? In 2 1/3 innings of relief yesterday, he gave up 2 runs, 5 hits, 2 walks, 3 strikeouts after the fracas that sent D.J. Carrasco & Miguel Olivo to the showers in the Sox 14-3 loss in K.C. Logan seems to lack confidence & control on the mound these days, and I think a trip back to the minors might be a wakeup call for #57. |

I can't disagree on sending Logan back to the minors, but who do they call up? I don't think there's much to choose from, and they already are short on guy in the bullpen. |

One name being considered is Adam Russell, who was good before he got sent back to Triple "A'. |

The White Sox have indeed called up Adam Russell from Triple "A" Charlotte and optioned Clayton Richard's sorry butt back down to make room. Russell's promotion may be short lived, as Jose Contreras could be activated this weekend vs. the Red Sox, and whose turn is set to come up Friday night. |

Joshua Fields, we hardly knew ye...The highly-touted "third baseman of the future" has been sent packin' back to Triple "A" Charlotte after regressing badly in limited play, both defensively & offensively. While we don't know how much longer it'll be before we see the return of Joe Crede with persistent back trouble, Juan Uribe will continue to play third base for the immediate future. Yeah, Uribe's batting average is around .230 this season, but his defense has been good in limited action since Alexei Ramirez replaced him as the full-time second baseman in Anaheim this past May. It's unclear who will be recalled to replace Fields, let alone struggling reliever Boone Logan, on the Major League roster before Sunday's game with the Red Sox. Just in case anyone's wondering, Pablo Ozuna has resurfaced with the Los Angeles Dodgers, while second baseman Chris Getz is currently NOT on the 40-man roster. He's hitting .306 for Charlotte with 11 HR & 51 RBI's... |

Lance Broadway, we hardly knew ye. No sooner does he allow 2 runs in 5 innings of work today in a 9-2 win over the Royals, the White Sox have optioned the right hander back to Triple "A" Charlotte. The Sox plan on making a roster move, likely a reliever, to be recalled before tomorrow night's late date in Oakland. Ozzie said in his postgame news conference today that he believes the Sox are an arm short in the bullpen with Lance's spot start. It makes sense, considering that the Sox actually have some off days on the horizon & likely won't need a fifth starter until the August 25th roadie in Baltimore, likely after the suspended game from the Orioles' only visit to the Southside is completed. |

That makes sense. If you can't make a waiver deal by then, bring Brodway up. The rosters expand 5 days later anyway. With the way the starters threw this week, it make sense to go to a 4-man if you can get away with it with everyone pitching on full rest. |

This is what I said when Jose went down. It's the easy decision. Bring up Broadway. And, with days off, you can go to a 4-man rotation. If you play 5 in a row then you have to pitch Broadway. He'll be up when the roster expands. |
