Why was Quentin taken out of the lineup? On B&B, Jesse said it was the same lineup as last night.

Last minute scratched. They said he tweaked his fore arm in BP. Probably related to getting hit by that pitch yesterday. They know it's not a broken bone. He should be fine. It's probably just the muscle.

He gets hit a lot because he stands on top of the plate.

Post subject:  Re: Sox vs Royals

It's has nothing to do with that.

Quentin stand right on the plate. His hands are over the plate. He doesn't move when it's coming at him. He's gonna get hit. I just hope he doesn't break a bone in his hand.

Hawk is weird. He said this a little bit ago.

"DJ, I said it yesterday and I'll say it again. I can envision a time - in the not to distant future - where Johnny Danks is the ace of this White Sox staff."

What? Hawk, you don't have to wait. It's here. It's now. Danks is the ace of the staff and has been all year.

Danks needs to learn to go deeper in games before he can be the ace. I love the guy but he's not there yet.

I noticed that Quentin's batting stance is very similar to another onetime former White Sox player, Jose Canseco. I kid you not!

Boy, Javier Vazquez was dealing tonight! 8 Innings of shutout baseball, and you know things are going right when Chris Getz, just called up from Triple "A" Charlotte, singles & gets his 1st Major League RBI pinch hitting for Alexei Ramirez to put this one out of reach! Remember that name, White Sox fans. There's already talk that Getz may be the opening day second baseman next season for the Sox with Ramirez shifting to shortstop & allowing O.C. to leave via free agency.

Well that was nice and easy. About time we got one of those games. Nice job, Vazquez.

It's also good that we got this game with Quentin resting. He needed a day off eventually. Now he got to heel his forearm and we got an easy win without him.

Kudos to Getz for his first hit and RBI in his first big league at bat. Javy had it working today.

Today we got a few cheap hits. But that's not why we won. We got all we needed with Dye's 2-run homer in the first. That wasn't cheap.

The Sox have given up more than thier share of cheap hits and unearned runs this season. They were due for some bloops to fall in.

None of the HRs today were cheap.

Twins lose!!!! 9-6 in 12 innings. Twins were down 6-3 in the 8th and battled to send it to extras.

Man, this is the 4th consecutive day that the Twins and Sox have changed sole posession of 1st place. That might be a record.

I only say that cuz it's rare to be on a half game hook for 4 days when you alternate. It's rare to swap that hook for 4 straight games. I'm not talking swaping ties and leads. That would be rare too. That would happen if it were a 1 game difference. Not 1/2. They've swaped sole possesion for 4 straight days. You need to alternate wins and loses for 4 straight days with a 1/2 game difference. Just and observation. That's a rare little baseball thing. Means nothing, really. Just weird and rare.

If he does that, he'll be called out every time he makes contact with the ball.

Twins won this afternoon. 4-2 at the dome. Took 2 out of 3 from the Yanks. Dead tie in the central as we speak.

The Sox need to jump on Hochevar early tonight and get into that KC bullpen. They also need at least 7 out of Buehrle. With Broadway starting tomorrow it could be a battle of the bullpens so it would be nice to knock the starter out early tonight. Hochevar is 0-1 6.17 vs. the Sox this year.

Shit, Quentin is out of the line-up again. 2 straight days. Maybe this is more serious than initially thought.

Anybody hear a report on him? Is it just a bad bruise?

Per MLB, the only authorized internet broadsasts must go through mlb.com

I usually go with the ESPN gamecast in these situations. It sucks, but it's better than nothing or 20-minute updates.

I know it's only the Kansas City Royals, but you've got to be encouraged that the White Sox have had back-to-back quality starts from Javy Vazquez last night & Mark Buehrle tonight. I'll be at the game tomorrow afternoon, and hopeful Lance Broadway can give Ozzie and company 5 solid innings in the getaway game before a three game weekend roadie at "Mount Davis" in Oakland...

Back to back shut outs!!!

Back to back 8 innings from our starting pitcher.

So what if it's the Royals? They knocked us around pretty good when we were in KC. It's always impressive to shut out a MLB team.

Plus, we won back to back games without Quentin. Didn't need Alexi for todays game either.

Chris Getz went 1-for-3 in his first ML start at second base tonight in the White Sox 4-0 shutout of hapless Kansas City. He may be sporting #39 on the big league level right now & might get a more respectable number (1, 6, 15, 27?) next spring, but you may very well be looking at the team's starting second baseman in 2009 with all the talk of Alexei shifting over to shortstop...That's the scoop I read in the Sun-Times upon his call-up.

The thing that bothers me about Oakland is the generous foul ground at their ballpark. The A's may have packed it in this season, but they can hardly wait to leave "Mount Davis" as Ed Farmer calls it. I think the A's play in one of a select few multi-use stadiums for both baseball & football. I'm not sure where things stand out there in regards to the A's and the rumors of a state-of-the-art facility in Silicon Valley...

They haven't broken ground yet and it doesn't look like they ever will. They were looking at it opening in 2012 at the very earliest. I think they're better off staying at the Oakland Coliseum or finding a site in Oakland, because the logistics of getting 30,000 people to attend a game all the way out in Fremont are just impossible. The traffic is bad, you can't get there by BART without shuttle buses and pedestrian bridges, it was just a terrible site from the get-go. Worse, it was only supposed to hold like 32,000, which sort of dooms you into never having a large fanbase. I understand scaling down from the huge donut stadiums, but 39,000 to 43,000 is really where you ought to be if you're taking yourself seriously as a major league team. That goes for the Marlins, too.

Broadway goes today too. I'll be there, sitting directly behind the tarp in row AA courtesy of a Mr Slap Shot Ed. I'm fine with Carasco staying in the bullpen, because he has been great out of there and the Sox need some bullpen help til Linebrink gets back.

Better to be disadvanteged in the six games the #5 starter might pitch than the entire season in which Carrasco might pitch.

The offense is going to have to win this one today.

You and the 32,000 at the game saw something extemely rare. 4 straight homers. That was the 6th time in the 125 years of MLB that has happened.
