There is a good chance that DeWayne Wise could be headed for the disabled list before the first game Friday vs. the Rays, likely opening a roster spot. Wise hurt his groin in Wednesday's 15-3 blowout win over the sucky Mariners, and it's believed to be similar to the one that ended Scott Podsednik's time in the White Sox silver & black. It's doubtful that the Sox will fill the likely opening with a 12th pitcher, but after talking with my dad who is a big Sox fan himself, he seems to think we may finally see Jerry Owens with the big club. Owens is currently hitting .283 with 1 homer & 20 RBI in an injury-riddled season with Triple "A" Charlotte, but here's another name that the Sox may consider if Wise heads for the DL as Ozzie Guillen seems to think. His name is Jason Bourgeois, an infielder/outfielder who's hitting .289 with 8 homers, 44 RBI & 26 stolen bases for the Knights. Unlike Owens & Wise, Bourgeois can play the infield & outfield, as he's played third & second base in Triple "A", along with DH, plus left & center field with the Triple "A" Knights. He's the kind of player who can bring several gloves to the ballpark with him.

Wise has been a nice player, but he is hardly a guy that will keep them from winning the division if he isn't around.

Getting Jerry Owens up would make the most sense to give you some options should the Sox make the postseason.

So far, DeWayne has NOT been placed on the DL, but he's listed like we all are, "day-to-day" with the groin injury. I was under the impression based on what Ozzie thought, Wise would be DL'd before tonight's game vs. the Rays. The White Sox were supposed to re-evaluate Wise, who hurt the groin making a diving catch in the 4th inning of Wednesday's 15-3 blowout "W" over the Mariners and was immediately replaced by Brian Anderson.

Fans, Joe Crede has been activated from the DL prior to tonight's suspended game in Baltimore, and DeWayne Wise has officially been placed on the disabled list with a groin injury sustained last Wednesday vs. Seattle. I believe when the game resumes, Crede will be at third & Juan Uribe was at second base, long before Alexei Ramirez supplanted Uribe in Anaheim. It will be interesting now to see how Crede & Uribe will now be used at third base, especially considering how good of a job #5 has done defensively at the hot corner in Crede's absence.
