There is little margin for error, and the Twins/Blue Jays series begins tomorrow in Toronto, eh?

As bad as tonight's matchup looks on paper for the White Sox, they have actually hit Cliff Lee pretty well, and we're still talking about the Indian hitters this season.

Should be an interesting matchup.

Before the game takes place tonight at Progressive Field, the White Sox have made some roster additions on the first day of the expanded 40 man. Outfielder Jerry Owens, backup catcher Paul Phillips, scruffy veteran Mike MacDougal & sidearm pitcher Ehran Wasserman were all recalled from Triple "A" Charlotte. Also, despite issues with his own control, reliever Scott Linebrink has been activated from the 15 day DL, according to the Trib's Mark Gonzales.

I actually heard G.Ofman yesterday try to argue that the White Sox needed to get Owens some OF starts to add speed to the lineup.

MacDougal has been pitching better in the minors of late.

I wonder if Chris Getz will get another callup as well.

Fuck. It seems to me that the Sox hitters have just given up trying to hit Lee. We hit him hard in the 1st and couldn't score. Then the Indians get a 4-0 lead.

Now, it fuckin' looks like the Sox are just giving lazy swings. Giving up at bats. They don't care. They don't think they can make up 4 runs. They're just trying to get this game over so they can hit the mother fuckin' Cleveland strip clubs. I hope the Sox get STDs from their hookers tonight.

When will Ozzie and Kenny learn that Wasserman doesn't deserve to be in MLB?

This doesn't surprise me - typically after facing a knuckler like Wakefield's, hitter suffer the next day as well getting re-adjusted. I would have bet the farm on Lee tonight at -175.

It's funny. I always check the odds in the paper. I took a guess before looking that the Indians would be -275 or -300 tonight. I thought -175 was a steal. I don't know how Vegas settled on those odds.

Because Cleveland sucks. I know Lee is the best pitcher in the AL this year, but did you see that lineup the Indians trotted out there today? Yikes, I think that was worse than the slop Ozzie had last year.

Yeah. But they were facing a guy with 5 MLB starts. We were facing the best pitcher in baseball.

I know the Indians just got swept by the M's. But, before that, they won 10 in a row. I'm just shocked the odds weren't greater.

Like they usually say with The Bears: If you can't BEAT 'em, BEAT 'EM UP!

That has to be about the most ignorant comment, from a sore loser, I have ever read. If you are frustrated because you can't beat a guy who may well win the Cy Young, take out your frustrations by hitting one of their batters. Thats something that even most children would not think reasonable. As Beardown pointed out, the Sox sent a rookie who had just a handful of starts under his belt, out to face a guy looking for his 20th win. Only Matsuzaka has any chance to win the Cy Young over Lee. If you look at what their record would be without Lee, you see just how valuable he is to that team-just to keep them semi-respectable. Should the oposing teams start hitting Carlos Quentin, if their hitters can't get anything going against Danks or Floyd??? Just a stupid thing to say.

Despite the recent struggles of the Pale Hose, Baseball Prospectus still has the Sox favored to make the playoffs over the Twins, 61% to 42%.

For those that do not know, Baseball Prospectus calculates those odds based on 1 million computer simulations of the rest of the season. Of those, the Sox make the playoffs 61% of the time (60% as division winners), and the Twins 41% of the time. The Indians pull a miracle out in something like 0.05% of the simulations.

They also went 17-11(.607) in August, the first time they have had a winning August under Ozzie Guillen. If they can put up a .600 winning % in September, they're gonna clinch this thing in Minnesota and have 3 games against the Tribe simply as a tune up for October (just like they did in 2005).

Are those the same guys that predicted 72 wins for the Sox this year (or was that Big Fan)??

Same guys. Though in fairness, in March and April, I certainly did not expect this team to win more than 80 or 82 games.

They also predicted that the Sox had only a 95% chance of making the playoffs, after they wrapped up the division in 05. I'm not kidding.

Ok. I take back what I said yesterday. I was frustrated watching the game. The Sox were clearly trying. They weren't giving up at bats. They just got beat by a great pitcher. I also take back the comment about their hookers. I hope the Sox didn't get STDs from them. Sorry.

New day. We should win tonight.

If Cliff Lee isn't the American League Cy Young Winner following his complete game, 5 hit shutout of the Southsiders, despite the Indians' disappointing season, something is wrong with the ballot. He was even more dominating than Matuzsaka the other night for the Red Sox...

Well guys we get to see Owens for the first time in the bigs this season. My expectations certainly arent high.

Why the hell is Carlos not in the lineup tonight? You are tied for first place and your best player is getting a day off? Someone explain that, unless he is hurt, he should be in the lineup EVERY DAY. Does Pujols get days off in the midst of a race? At least DH him. What the hell?

Quentin's hand is hurting him. That's why he's out. Still, I don't know why fuckin' Owens gets to play.

Christ, Anderson has been on your god damn bench all year. Play him. Or play Griffey if you want a lefty. Don't give a game to Owens. Not in big September games. He just failed terribly with 2 in scoring position. He had no chance.

Anyway, we should win this. We're into the Cleveland bullpen. They suck. We've got the top of the order coming up in the 7th.

Why would Jerry Owens be allowed to bat in that situation? Horrible gut call by Guillen.

I agree. You pinch hit Griffey in that spot. Ozzie fucked up. Why? Didn't want to hurt Owens feeling? Fuck Owens. I guarentee this: After September is over, Owens will never play in the Big Leagues again. He just sucks.

If I'm the agent representing Brian Anderson, I've got to be wondering what it's going to take to crack the starting lineup, pennant race or no pennant race... He's supposed to be the best centerfielder on this roster, in spite of the September call up of Jerry Owens. Play the man, Ozzie, and stop being stubborn!!! :x GET B.A. IN THE DAMN LINEUP!!!!

Why does Ozzie feel the need to use his entire roster, and most recent call-ups, in crucial situations?

First, Jerry Owens, then Boone Logan.

As much as these guys didn't get the job done tonight, they should have never been in these situations.

You know what? Leave all of these fuckin' September call ups in Cleveland. We don't need any of these ass holes.

All they can do is hurt us. Fuck every last one of these bitches.

Fuck the Sox and fuck me.
