White Sox fans, here's something to chew on. Joe Crede returned from the disabled list and promptly reclaimed third base yesterday in Baltimore, yet only had 2 hits during his rehab assignment at Triple "A" Charlotte. Juan Uribe, who started at second base in the regularly scheduled game yesterday, played very well defensively while Crede was sidelined with the recurring back injury. Granted, he's no immediate threat to Crede, let alone Alex Rodriguez with the bat, but Uribe seems to be a very capable defensive player at the "hot corner". While most would prefer a healthy Crede being the everyday third baseman down the stretch, it appears to me there's not much of a dropoff defensively if the Sox start Uribe at third instead of at shortstop or second. Besides, it looks like Uribe is starting to hit the ball himself. It seems to be a nice problem for Ozzie to have now...

I don't see this is a problem. If Crede is healthy, and able to play, he's the 3B. Uribe goes back to the bench, and plays when needed.

This is not a question. This is the opposite of a question. Of course Crede.

I don't care if Crede or Uribe play 3rd. This team isn't winning more than 2 games in the playoffs without Scott Linebrink pitching like he was the first half of this year.

Frank, you bring up a valid point about Linebrink. The White Sox bullpen has an E.R.A. over 5.00 since #71 went down, and unfortunately, it doesn't appear as if Linebrink will be available anytime soon, even when rosters expand Monday.

I'd rather have Aramis at third base.

I learned everything I know about Aramis, Athos, Porthos and D'Artagnan from watching The Banana Splits.

I identified with Glum of the Lilliputians.

With Crede taking himself out yesterday, its Uribe from here on out. Which is just fine with me. He's been terribly bad at the plate since June, and his defense has been anything but stellar this year.

Thanks for '05 Joe, but your back sucks.

After last night's 9-3 setback in Cleveland when Joe Crede's back flared up yet again, Ozzie sounded as if #24 might not be depended on the rest of the way & that Juan Uribe might be the third baseman from here on out. Uribe was swinging a hot bat before Crede was activated at the start of the road trip in Baltimore, and playing solid defensively at the hot corner. I think Crede has played his last game in a White Sox uniform, and should the Southsiders re-sign Uribe, I would re-sign #5 exclusively for third base and nowhere else.

Chone Figgins is next year's third baseman.

Good Dolphin, Chone's been on the White Sox radar, along with Orlando Hudson from the D-Backs to possibly takeover second base with Alexei shifting to shortstop next season. Hudson's season is over however with the wrist injury sustained in a game vs. the Braves. I know this...Tadahito Iguchi just got released by the Padres & Pablo Ozuna was designated for assignment by the Dodgers...
