Yep, something about the writers of newspapers who wanted to shorten the then-name of "White Stockings". One of the best names in the 4 major sports. |

GD, you claim that youre not "sweet" yet reading some of your posts tell me otherwise. London Man is just upset I said I was sending one invite to him and The Balls for my housewarming party implying that they might be liviing together, which there is nothing wrong with. I am sure they have very nice stuff. |

In high school one year, my Spanish and my Calculus teacher happened to be two men in their late 40s who lived together. They both had mustaches and talked a bit lispy. One was a little more fabulous and the other was a little more verclempt, but I'm sure that their arrangement to live together and share rides to work was a very friendly and money-saving relationship. |

I'm not sure but for a little a while with a 3-1 lead in the NLCS they were known as the yellow stockings. |

If memory serves me (and it often doesn't, that's why I love Google), the "Cubs" nickname was suggested by a newspaper writer and it stuck. |
