Here are the pitching match-ups for this 4 game series. The 2nd to last series at Yankee stadium. Sox will miss Mussina. We're facing a rookie vs Buehrle tonight. It's his 2nd start ever. He did good in his MLB debut. Yankees are planning for next year.
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/probable_pitchers.jsp?c_id=nyy

Ok. Check this out: First 3 games of this series the forecast says no rain. But Thursday there will be rain. Yankees are playing there last game at Yankee Stadium the Sunday after they play the Sox. Sept 21. Both the Sox and the Yankees have off Sept 22.

So if the Sox/Yankees are rained out on Thursday the Sox will make it up Sept 22 and be the last game ever at Yankee Stadium.

The White Sox are starting this series with just the right guy in Mark Buehrle this eve in the Bronx. However, unless you follow baseball big time, I've never heard of tonight's starter Alfredo Aceves. That usually means trouble for the Sox, I do believe...The Twins start a series at (NOT SO) Progressive Field in Cleveland with Kevin Slowey starting for the Joe Cocker-looking Ron Gardenhire with S. Lewis starting for Eric Wedge & the Indians.

It's a myth that the Sox don't hit pitchers they haven't seen. They killed the young Angels guy last week. Nobody but Thome and Swisher had ever faced him. Thome only once going into the game.

The Sox killed Gio Gonzalez when we played the A's earlier in the year. They had never faced him. I'm sure there are other examples of us killing a guy we haven't seen. There are also some guys that have gotten us.

Look, if the kid is good we'll struggle. If he's bad we'll kill him tonight. If he's average we'll get 3 or 4 runs. Understand? Good.

Sometimes the Sox hit a pitcher when he has good stuff. Sometimes the Sox don't hit a pitcher when he has bad stuff. This happens regardless if they've seen the guy or not.

People just like to say "Sox don't hit guys they haven't seen". Nobody really looks into it. It's just a habbit. If they don't hit that guy it's not always cuz they haven't seen him. Maybe the guy, on that given day, pitched well.

Hopefully, Buerhle will be on his game tonight. He's been throwing good as of late. We could use 7 or 8 IP tonight and hopefully skip over most of that bullpen.

Wise has been awesome. The guy is batting .300 and has had some big hits all year.

Christ, I think he's better than Griffey at their respective points in their careers. Especially if you take into account defense, base stealing, and base running.

I hope Anderson gets 2 starts in CF this series. They don't hit as well as they do at home so let's make sure we're not giving teams extra outs.

I've been trying to tell you guys this for a while. Brian Anderson, while Konerko is hurt, or anytime he plays for that matter, will only start against lefties. He'll probably get all starts against lefties with Konerko down. That's why he started yesterday against Rogers. Pettite is the only lefty we face in this series. That's tomorrow. Brian Anderson will start that game.

Ozzie won't start him against righties. Nor should he. Wise has proven he deserves those starts. Like I said, right now, I like Wise better than Griffey.

Ya know, I was at some of the last games at old Comiskey. I was at the 2nd to last game there; the last night game. Despite the Yankees being out of it, there will be a buzz in the 50k + people at Yankee stadium for this series. This series will have a playoff type atmoshphere and the Yankees will be up for it. They have a good line-up. Hopefully there bad pitching continues.

Look at OC. Fuck him. That's back to back days he's been thrown out, stealing 3rd, with one out, and Dye at the plate.

I know what he's doing but we can't get Sac flys anyway. With one out, you've got two cracks to get a hit and score. Don't steal 3rd ever againd Cabrera. You idiot. Or make it. Jerk.

We're out of the inning!

It's amazing how we don't know how to do run downs.

RUN AT THE GUY. FORCE HIM TO COMMIT. PUT THE TAG ON!!!!! It's so simple.

Christ, line drive double play to get out of the inning. We've gotten lucky twice. Giambi should have tagged, gotten into 3rd, and scored and now this.

Why can't the Sox beat the fucking Yankees? They never get out first and just piss down their pantlegs whenever they play them. It's so fucking aggravating.

They continue to use Wasserman in tight situations, and, to no one's surprise except Ozzie Guillen's, he failed again, with a lead off walk to start the 7th. It wasn't all his fault, but he set the tone for that inning, but not getting his job done. Basically, outside of Jenks and Thorton, this pen is pretty brutal, and there just isn't anyone to feel good about.

Indians are beating the Twins (heading into the 9th) so this looks like a wasted opportunity for the White Sox, but, in my opinion, we shouldn't be very surprised that the White Sox can't win on the road.

These guys are just brutal against the AL East. They're lucky the Twins lost tonight but they can't continue to stay ahead this way.

Twins lose. Sox lose.

Another day off the schedule. 1.5 game lead. Thank God we are in the AL central.

That's how I'm looking at this as well. I don't expect to win more than one game in NY, and Cleveland can now hopefully help us out by taking one more game in that series.

Baseball Prospectus gives them a 76.5% chance of winning this Central.

Coztansa gives them about a 25% chance of advancing beyond the ALDS.

I will not bitch (for very long) if they only make it to the playoffs frank. This year has been a success.

fair enough, but the bar has been raised. If the bullpen would pitch like it did in the first half, this team is as dangerous as any in the playoffs.

I guess the Yankees changed their rotation. MLB.com now has Mussina pitching in game 4 of the Sox series. That's how I originally had it figured. It said he wasn't going yesterday.

Tonight, Gavin Floyd takes on Andy Pettitte, someone we've heard of and has had a .500 season in his second tour of duty in Yankee pinstripes this season...I think the Sox would be "Wise", no pun intended, of getting to Pettitte right away tonight in the Bronx. We might have a Brian Anderson sighting in the starting lineup as well...

Yet another great outing by Gavin. Now the bullpen needs to get 6 outs. Don't fuck it up!

And then a helluva play by Uribe at third (again :D )

Scott Boras has to be just shitting bricks in prep for this offseason. :pig:
