We are not a good team, we are an average team playing in the worst divsion in baseball. Even the Dodgers in the NL west got hot in the end and taking the divsion! When we play the better teams we lose, thats just how it is, we are not that good. This is why I don't get so excited about making the playoffs. Fact is someone has to make the playoffs and between us losing 3 of the last 4 and the wins losing 4 of the last 5, I guess we are less loss winner! Woo Hoo |

This definitely fits in the "who cares?" category. The team that gets hot in the playoffs wins the world series. Even when the Sox won in '05 they slipped in September. From September 8th to the 27th they were 7-12, then they got hot and the rest is history. The next year the Cardinals finished out the season on a 3-9 run which included a 7-game losing streak and then proceded to dismantle the opposition in the post-season. Even the Red Sox last year had a 5 game lead in mid-September and went 3-6 to drop their lead to 1.5 games before finally clinching the division the last week or so of the season. |

The other thing that makes no sense is bringing the Dodgers into the discussion. The Dodgers do not have an awe inspiring record (80-73), but they are a different club now, with Manny Ramirez and Casey Blake added to their team just before the trade deadline. FYI-you are right though about the A.L. Central division. It is real bad this year. You are right about the Sox too. I predicted they would win their division, just as I predicted the Cubs would win theirs. But if they do indeed win it, I do not see them advancing past the first round. But you put Floyd, Danks and Buehrle, hell even Vasquez too-on a hot streak, and anything can happen. They will have to get some breaks, because God knows they struggle to score against good pitching, as they do not manufacture runs well. But I think Westmont is right, in saying that if a team gets hot at the right time, anything is possible. I don't want to start the "best team does not always win" discussion again, but suffice to say that if they get hot, the Sox can make it to the World Series again....Where the Cubs will beat them like a rented mule!!! |
