Let's do this.

Sox have a 2.5 game lead. 3 game lead in the loss column. Even if we get swept we could have a chance in the final series. I think if we take 1 out of 3 we are in. Twins bullpen is worse than the Sox. Sox starters go longer than their starters recently. We'll take 2 out of 3.

The pitching match ups:

IMO Sox really need to win 2 of 3, and the pitching matchups look pretty good for them, but strange things happen in that dome. Should be interesting.

Even if they get swept the Sox will still control their destiny. After a Twins sweep, if the Sox win their next 4, they will guarentee a playoff with the Twins. That's even if the Twins go 3-0 against the Royals.

Don't get me wrong. Don't want it to come to that. I'm just saying the Sox are in good shape. It could go bad. Trust me. I'm aware of that.

The worst case scenario is being swept. Even with a 1-2 trip to the dome, they will leave 1.5 games up and a MN of 3.

That's what I see happening - losing 2 of 3 this week to the Twins to complete a 4-6 road trip.

Right. If they only take one game vs the Twins they are still 2 games up in the loss column. Twins will have 3 left against the Royals. Sox will have 3 against the Indians and 1 against the Tigers if they need it.

Fuck complacency. Take 2 of 3 from the Twins now, win Friday against the Injuns and take the weekend to relax. If this team is going to show any kind of killer instinct needed in the playoffs, we need to see it this series.

I know Frank. But as a Sox fan I always look for the best "worst case scenerio". If that makes sense. I think that way about my life and my Sox. That's how I am.

Getting swept is obviously the worst scenerio. Losing 2 out of 3 is the best bad scenerio.

When I go to a bar I always look for the girl that I think has a 10% chance of talking to me. That's all I look for. :(

The good news, if you want to call it that, is the White Sox avoid Francisco Liriano in this series at the Metrodome. I don't think you will see Ken Griffey Jr. either in this series, unless he's a designated hitter in one of the games. While a Sox sweep would be sweet, I'll be more than satisfied with 2 out of 3 in this awful ballpark & clinching the division at home this weekend vs. Cleveland.

I don't care where they clinch the damn thing. Just get in.

I can only hope that Griffey's playing time in CF in this series would be extremely limited.

Wise is just a better player than Griffey right now. It's that simple. Wise is better than Swisher too. Swisher is a better defender than Griffery right now.

I hope Ozzie doesn't feel like he has to play Griffey in the playoffs cuz he feels he owes it to the HOFers ego for his great career.

That's what worries me - that Guillen will play Griffey because he's a veteran over a guy like Wise who is helping the team win. I could deal with Swisher because he plays solid defense, but, please, no Griffey!

Without having Danks or Floyd going in this series, the Sox will be hard pressed to win the series in Minnesota. The Twins have been very good there, while the Sox have been less than stellar on the road. 1 0f 3 is more likely. This series will go a LONG way towards showing what they are really made of. If the Sox were to take 2, it would pretty much wrap it up. Hang onto your seats....

Reading is a skill steve. Floyd pitches Thursday on short rest. So tough for them to win without them 2 pitchers i know..

Steve must have missed the "little" amount of talk about Ozzie making members of his staff go on short rest to avoid using Richard as a starter in the Twins series.

Post subject:  Re: Sox @ Twins

Actually, I did not see that anywhere. But that surely ought to increase their chances of winning. That means that both Buehrle and Floyd will have had to pitch on short rest. Gotta agree with Guillen on the thinking there though. Only a handful of games left. It's time to pull out all the stops.

I had gone to the Whits Sox.com site last night and it did not list Floyd at that time. they must have updated it later. It certainly does make a significant difference. Whether or not the strategy works or not, will be huge. But I think it's a smart move.

Ozzie started using Richard in relief during the Royals series to see if they can trust him in that lefty specialist role should the Sox make the post season.

They need to take advantage of the fact that they control their own fate, and that they're not facing Liriano. I demand a sweep. I also demand a moratorium on Griffey in CF.

Yes either that or having to read another propaganda piece on tOSU.

It all boils down to pitching. starters and relievers. A wild card is the Twins stealing bases at will.I'm going to strap it on, hunker down and hit the mute button! Everyone just enjoy the greatest game ever invented!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's do this. Three games here and we are in. No messing around, let's just get it done.

What do you mean by that? How would you even set that total?

Maybe no balls are hit to center. Maybe they are all right to him. Of course. There are balls that he can't get to that Anderson would. I'll tell you when I see it.

Ok. 3 outs and Griffey hasn't cost us on defense. 24 to go.
