Royals have a bunch of slap hitters, like the Twins, that can ping-pong the ball around that dome. It sucks the Royals scratched Grienke. That guy is good. Which game was he suppose to pitch? Todays' game is interesting - Meche has been very good this season since April. April ERA: 7.81 May ERA: 3.65 June ERA: 3.13 July ERA: 3.05 August ERA 3.49 September ERA: 3.96 He did get killed by Minnesota, but that was back in April...Also, KC's lineup does look a lot better with Ryan Shealy, Mike Aviles, Jose Guillen, and Billy Butler in the middle of that lineup. Minnesota has Perkins going today, and he's given up at least 4 runs in 8 of his last 10 starts. I think the Twins need to get to Meche today with Perkins wearing down. |

Yeah. Royals gave Meche a lot of money. One of the few free agent guys that they signed. He can be good. This is a 2:55 FOX game. Our market will get the Cubs game however. I tried to see if I could "Pirate" it on Channelsurfing.net. It doesn't list the game on today's schedule. Guess I'll have to follow it on line. |

Twins have Perkins pitching today. The guy has a fine 12-4 record. But the SOB has a 4.50 ERA. That ain't good. Shit. This guys record is clearly the product of excellent run support. |

On the year he has an ERA just over 4 and he has refused to pitch, when his arm was sore. It had management more than a bit peeved, after they gave him such a large contract. Plus, going 9-13 last year, was not probably what they were hoping for. But yes, he has the ability to throw a gem, now and then and you have to hope that today is one of them. |

Both sides want to house the game on their respective sites in order to control the user experience and generate traffic numbers. Still, MLB President Bob DuPuy said he “expects to renew discussions for the 2009 season.” The MLB-Comcast talks are important on several levels. As the quality of video streaming continues to improve, the application of local market streaming has taken on new prominence in recent months. NBA executives recently disclosed plans to stream games locally starting next season, a first for a major U.S. sports league. That will likely set up a battle between the league, the individual clubs, regional sports networks and cable operators. In baseball, the issue has become even more fractious, particularly with regard to its internal politics. MLB Advanced Media, which manages the interactive rights for all 30 clubs and acts as a key source of revenue sharing for the industry, has for years successfully sold live streaming of games through its MLB.TV out-of-market package, a product that applies local-market blackouts like its TV counterpart, Extra Innings. But a group of clubs, including the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles, have been pushing hard for changes to MLB policy to allow for in-market streaming as a means to supplement coverage on club-owned regional sports networks. The clubs believe they can gain some valuable insight into market viewership, generate revenue from the digital offering and, ideally, help promote their local broadcasts. MLB Commissioner Bud Selig nearly a year ago proposed a revenue-split between individual clubs and MLB Advanced Media to “break the logjam.” But the financial terms of such a split remain in dispute. And the issue has been further complicated by the recent renegotiation of the digital rights deal between ESPN and MLBAM in which ESPN’s Sunday night and Wednesday night games will be streamed on ESPN360.com. “Our concern is simply that of protecting local media assets and local rights holders,” said John Henry, Boston Red Sox owner. Executives with several MLB clubs, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that while ESPN is a valuable partner and lucrative source of income, the new deal grants the network rights far in excess of what’s available to individual clubs and regional outlets. Furthermore, there is concern among some clubs that the MLBAM Constitution, approved by owners and revised on numerous occasions, remains overly broad and has not sufficiently contemplated the power and extent of current and emerging technologies. “This is all a very, very complicated matter,” said one club official. “Who really has these [digital] rights and how do we best bring them to the marketplace? That’s the big question. And though we’re in sort of a holding pattern right now, it’s no doubt the single biggest economic issue our industry is facing.” |

MLB was fighting Sling Box. That box allowed people to see their local MLB team when they were out of town. I don't know how that turned out. Sling Box just allows you to see your personal television channels while on the road. By the way, I remember this last year, Comcast gave us the MLB package on the last day of the year. I remember watching the Rockies game last year. Why not? It's the last day of the season. You got all the subscriptions you are gonna get. Might as well give it out free at that point. I checked today. Games aren't there today. So check for that tomorrow. Might be able to see the Twins/Royals. For Comcast the MLB package is 460-479. |

Where do you get this bullshit?? Refused to pitch?? Meche hasn't missed a start since he's been in KC. He made 34 starts and threw 216 innings last season and he's making his 34 start today and has thrown 204.1 innings this season. Am I going to have to quote Captain Obvious for you again? |
