wow, I'm surprised that's all they got for him. Bailey was supposed to be a stud, but he hasn't done anything in the big leagues. he's still young so there's still time. I'm surprised that the Reds would make this move. I would have thought that they are still a few years from contending and rebuilding should be their focus, but Walt Jocketty seems to always make deals that help his team. |

Kenny is obviously doing a make-over of the team, and Dye was in the final year of his contract. One year ago, Bailey was considered to be a top prospect in all of baseball, and, obviously, Williams feels that they can get him going under their system. Kenny has already stated that he is cutting payroll, but he's trimmed a lot off of it. I would expect the Sox to now have some flexibility to get something done. |

Who was the last big free agent Kenny signed? I think they could have got alot more potential than this guy for Dye. |

Jermaine Dye, CWS Dec. 7 - 8:55 pm et A source told the Dayton Daily News that the White Sox and Reds have completed a swap involving Jermaine Dye and Homer Bailey. Color us skeptical for now. The Dye-for-Bailey rumors have been going around for some time now, but no one seemed to think the deal was getting done. As lost as Bailey is right now, it'd still be a bad idea for the Reds to part with him for a one-year solution in right field. They'd be spending a good portion of their available funds on a mediocre defense corner outfielder who has averaged fewer RBI per at-bat than Adam Dunn over the course of his career. I don't think Kenny signed Belle, and, I agree, the Sox don't often make big moves in free agency. That doesn't mean that you can't be successful though. |

Source: Dayton Daily News I would take Dye and what could be next year, over potential with Bailey. The white sox were close last year and faced a hot team with the Rays. Im not sure what to make of this at all. Im more surprised than anything. |

Kenny's biggest free agency signings I believe ($$$ wise) were Dye, Linebrink and Dotel). Most of the better players over the past few years he's acquired were either from out of the country (Iguchi, Ramirez and now Dayan Viciedo) - or trades - Thome, Quentin, Denks and Floyd. |
