I hesitate to post this because I cannot name the source either posting or by PM, but I have it on excellent word that the Sox are in high level tire kicking stages with Baltimore for Brian Roberts. Hurts me as a Cub fan to report this, but it is what it is. Should a trade go through, I will reveal the source, but not before then. |

I'd be surprised if the White Sox traded for Roberts. They already have Getz, who they seem to love as a Twins type player, Nix as a guy who can compete for a spot, and I believe Lillbridge (hopefully I got his name right) from Atlanta, who I think may get a shot at 2B. Obviously, Roberts is much better than this group of unproven players, but the Sox feel very good about at least 2 of them, and it would seem to me that it's a position that can go cheap at, and like the possibilities. |

Getz played some LF in the minors and is considered a very good athlete. If the Sox traded Dye they could use some of the talent they get to flip to the Os. 1) Roberts 2B 2) Getz LF 3) Quinten RF 4) Thome DH 5) Konerko 1B 6) Ramirez SS 7) AJ C 8. Fields (hopefully they can find an upgrade) 9) Anderson CF |

If they traded for roberts, it would be for one year and then roberts is a free agent and I doubt the sox would pay him since they seem to be swaying away from big contracts. |

I have no problem using him as a 1 year rental as long as they don't give up too much. Like the Cabrera deal they can take the two draft picks and slide Beckham in at 2nd in 2010. |

They aren't trading for a 2B (Roberts) or signing (Hudson) when they are very happy with the young prospects they currently have there (Getz/Lillbridge), and they are cutting payroll. I think they will trade Dye for more prospects at some point, and I think they will wait out the market, and sign an OF and maybe a pitcher at a discounted rate. |

You guys are all forgetting about Gordon Beckham, who can play at any spot in the IF and is the current top rated prospect in the system. Having Roberts around for the '08 Surprise Playoff Run would have been nice, but I don't like the idea of going after him for '09. |

It looks like he's got a better shot of reaching the big leagues quickly as a 2B because either Fields or the Cuban player will hold down 3B. |

There was a little blur in the Sun-Times today where Ozzie said that Chris Getz would be his starting second baseman if the season started right now. I think the White Sox are really high on Getz, and likely would put him 9th in the batting order, with the likelihood that he'll eventually bat second. That'll be one of the battles of spring training if the Sox don't add D-Backs' free agent Orlando Hudson or if the Orioles continue to tell GM Kenny Williams, Cubs' GM Jim Hendry & other GMs in MLB to hang up on themselves in regards to even pondering a deal for Brian Roberts. As for all the talk about Jermaine Dye possibly getting dealt to Cincinnati, I don't think Homer Bailey is nearly good enough in return, if the talk is indeed accurate. That's one deal I don't think should be made, let alone the fact I've never heard of the guy being rumored as who the Sox could get back in return for a former World Series MVP. |

You redeemed your SHARKNESS by saying Luke a Like. What a fuckn SHARKish thing to say. The Comcast SportsNet anchor has an occasional "kicker" near the end of his show where he features a picture of an athlete & his "twin". As Stuckmeyer says, "They Luke so much alike, they'd be twins." Some of the "Luke-a-Likes" are absolutely hilarious... Getting back to topic, Luke did mention this morning that the Anaheim Angels are interested in Dye or Paul Konerko, especially with word out West that talks with free agent first baseman Mark Teixeira & agent Scott Bora$ seem to be going nowhere and the increasing chances that he'll be wearing something other than the Anaheim crimson & white with the yellow halo on top next season. |
