White Sox fans, could the Southsiders be pondering a possible trade before the regular season opener vs. the Royals April 6th at U.S. Cellular Field? It seems as if Ozzie Guillen is less than thrilled with the three-way battle for center field between DeWayne Wise, Brian Anderson & Jerry Owens with about 10 days left before the regular season opener, and a trade could possibly be in the cards for one of the three underwhelming choices, according to Sox beat writer for the Sun-Times & "SCORE" contributor Joe Cowley. While TV analyst Steve Stone seems to think Wise & Anderson will likely split the duties in a platoon, Cowley reports today that Owens not only could be the odd man out, but could be traded by the end of camp. Cowley didn't mention any specific teams or names in his story, but keep in mind that Owens is out of minor league options, and the Sox will likely lose #7 completely if he's not on the 25-man Opening Day roster. The same is true for the journeyman Wise, considered to be the front runner by a very slim margin to not only start in center, but lead off on Opening Day. |

I think the Sox should waste prospects/cash on a trade before opening day. There is no way they can compete for third in the AL Central with their current CF mess. |

DeWayne Wise sucks. |

Right now, I'm not sure you can get a 12 pack of Miller Lite for Owens...Even though he's walking quite a bit, the average is still around .200 overall, and that's not going to get it done. You know what I think of Brian Anderson, and Ozzie is very reluctant to give B.A. much of a shot other than late inning defense... |

I can't see them going into the season with this mess when Melky Cabrera & his $400K salary & 4 more years under club control are out there to be had for a couple of double A arms. |

Every time I hear Melky Cabrera's name I think of a game last year (i think) when a guy was heckling the shit of him the whole game. I watched on TV and the guy was so loud it was like he was in my living room...fucking hilarious. If we pick him up, it would be an upgrade in CF but a downgrade in my entertainment. I'm still on the fence with this one. |

Ah yes, Milky Cabrera. I foresee this dolt manning (peyto) center field by the time opening day arrives. Cup- The Sox just arent the Sox without a Cabrera |

Cost you a lot of money for not a lot of production. |

Josh Hamilton just declined a contract. Could the possibility of Danks going back home for the crack head be tempting? Cup- Bringing Hamilton to the south side sure as fuck would make the clockers and trappers happy |

Like Ozuna did when he was here, you might actually see him play shortstop when Alexei Ramirez needs a day off, at second base in relief of Chris Getz, possibly even at third base instead of Josh Fields or Wilson Betemit, even in the outfield from time to time. |

Thome wasn't really far off his career #'s last year. .362 OBP vs .406 career. |

I want to say Thome was around .260 and Paulie was in the .240s. In a "bad" year for Thome, he was still at or right near the top of the league compared to other full time DHs. |

Last season Cabrera had a .642 ops in 414 AB's, Pierre a .655 ops in 375 AB's, Matthews Jr a .676 ops in 426 AB's and Anderson a .708 ops in 181 AB's. Given the AB's Anderson can out produce those three and provide better defense (except for Matthews) and it would not cost the Sox players or additional money. |

Unfortunately, they seem interested in a base stealing, stereo-typical lead-off guy, and they are in denial about their current options. |

If they want speed at the top of the lineup, Alexei Ramirez is the fastest guy on this roster and if I was Ozzie, #10 is MY lead off hitter, plus has a higher on-base percentage in very limited at-bats at the top of the order. Alexei is best suited in my world... |
